6. wow.
no offense, but how vacuous. THere are a gazillion lies and serious misdoings emanating from this WH. But what captures the short-attention span of the tv news media/viewers? The Banner lie. Oh boy - pass on the Plame affair and bring on bannergate. I am depressed.

Joe Wilson available for online questions^

look at the amoeba-like spread of banner-related posts.....not that it's a bad thing

ANY port in a storm....if it captures the public's imagination, shows what a lying POS he is, it can't hurt

10. But this particular LIE was given the Hollywood treatment
It's the law of every action having an equal and opposite reaction.

14. agreed
will the press give it the HUGE coverage to the admission of the "misunderstanding" (according to an anonymous WH spokesman) this incident caused?

based on the medias' track record over the last 11 years, one can only feel the goblet is half empty

12. I think you took my statement wrong
I agree w/ you whole heartedly...I meant it in an ironic/sarcastic way, thus my "Go figure"...Obviously there are much more important issues I would like to see exposed more fully...Every lie exposed does count though

I wouldn't be too depressed though. There mere fact that they're covering this ridiculous little lie is in itself encouraging...Meanwhile, the Plame Affair isn't going away, you can bet on it...

22. my reaction wasn't to you - it was to what you are reporting
we react way to similarly (on the serious scale) to these issues for me to have read you cursorily as being vaccuous.

COme, let us go to Julka's thread - let's add some questions for Ambassador Wilson.

13. Nixon lost his base support
when the tapes showed that he swore, ie, 'used the Lord's name in vain.'

Sometimes it's the trivial little thing that may really strike home.

27. its true.. just depressing
as a public we can just be so shallow. I mean - in the magnitude of things... lie to go to war - or lie about WHO ordered the banner.

The political procees. Usually the tiny things blow up.
Nixon's 5-o'clock shadow, Muskie's tears, Nixon swearing.

Weird

predates Wilson entering the Niger story... looks at the dates of when Cheney first pushes Niger... which is months before the story goes to the Italians... so who got it to Cheney... and how did it get to the businessman who took it to the Italian broadcaster???? Go to www.talkingpointsmemo it should be one of the recent blog entries.

30. Don't be depressed
This is an issue that is simple to understand, so simple that the American public can digest it and understand it because it can be comprehended in 5 seconds, and it's not perceived as mudslinging. Bush's own words are being used against him. Maybe it'll have legs.

Bush said that the Mission Accomplished sign wasn't his idea, it came from the sailors. My mom can understand this issue (and she thinks Bush is a "good man" <sigh> ), . It's black and white. Simple. Who would believe that the sailors actually made that big sign? This cuts right to the heart of his integrity that Americans can understand. He lied about a damn sign. Sure there are bigger issues and crimes he has commited agains our country, but damn, if the Republicans can impeach Clinton for a BJ, then we can bash the shit out of Bush for blatently lying about a sign.

As Carville would say, "What are we going to tell the children?"

24. Trott may feel he owes Junior a kick in the rear for not defending the...
...statements Trott made at the Strom Thurmond get-together. After all, everyone knows that Junior thinks in nearly identical patterns.

There's no defense for either one of those two monkey-farts, but it's as good an explanation as any.

5. Did Tweety turn against Bush?
I've seen remarkably little ass-kissing from him lately, and he even opened up today's show by talking about Bush's lie about the "Mission Accomplished" banner.

And now this question: "Aren't our troops sitting there in a crow shoot?"

What is this, Bizarro-ball?

I'm only half listening, but it sounds like he's calling Reed on his bullshit. (If we weren't losing people every day, would that be a sign that we're losing? You're not making any sense...)

25. taping this......watching later, but T always treats RR w/kid gloves
he goes after some wingnuts, leaves others alone.

trying to decide if there's a certain power (asscheek?) level above which his lips don't reach?

hope is going after Reed tonight.

that may signal a change, but I think there's something to the idea that Matthews is bipolar, or at least occasionally seized by fits (pangs?) of conscience.

20. Where does this all lead?
I totally agree that savaging Bush on Iraq is 100% fair, but where is this headed? I mean, what do we want to have happen? And is savaging Bush the way to make that happen?
