Republicans planning protest at Michigan Debate next Friday
I got this off the Clark blog...we need to get the Dems out to counter this:

-------------------------------------
I just pulled the following from a news story about the debate in Detroit:

""Michigan Republican Chairwoman Betsy DeVos and other Republicans are expected to protest in front of the Fox Theatre before the debate begins.

On Friday, Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie warned during a Detroit news conference that the debate will allow the Democratic candidates to "continue a pattern of political hate speech" aimed at the president.""

2. See their strategy? Quell dissent - get used to it
There can be little doubt anymore that the GOP strategy is to equate criticism of the "president" with treason. It has been obvious for some time. Now, the "mainstream" GOP leaders have been issued their marching orders. Fear and intimidation are their goals. "Political hate speech?" Try being Clinton or FDR. This is going to get scary. In fact, it already is. What, the opposition party no longer has a right to criticize the party in power? According to Rove and the GOP, the answer is no.

3. Is this what they want to start?
Wait till the convention in NYC.

No, what they want to do is destroy the 2 party process. Free speech. Did they hear Democrats saying these things when Clinton was President in 96? They made up things to justify their witch hunt and then impeached him on an issue that was absolutely none of our business. No we don't do this because we value freedom of speech. Too bad these morans don't understand the difference.

The unelected fraud has done more damage to this country in 3 years than any administration I can remember...even Nixon. This man, if he could be subpeoned, would be exposed to impeachment for his treasonous/criminal actions. Hatespeech? No, it's the truth and it's afundemental right of a FRIGGEN DEMOCRACY..... we are so way past hate.

But they won't be happy until they turn the US into a single party State...that's how dictatorships happen, you bunch of ignorami.

Dems.....I sure hope they will get out and counter.

And to answer your question...NO. Remember when Kerry said there needed to be a regime change? Why, they were outraged. Democrats aren't supposed to run anyone in 2004, don't you know. No debate, no race. Just hand it over to GW.

I hate Republicans

Assholes

6. Gotta love the big general non-specific stuff they say.
You know, if they don't like what we say about the former governor, why don't they say:

1. What they don't like and...
2. ...why it isn't true.

Our free speech is theirs. And it doesn't seem like they know how to use it. If they can't/are too embarassed to try/can't do it without getting caught lying, that's not our problem.

They can't discuss these things without the real dirt on the former governor coming out, so they pull this big blanket "hate speech" thing.

I'm not too afraid though, as long as we keep attending to their tricks and subjecting them to embarassment on account of them, I think they'll end up making themselves look more and more looney until they are so far marginalized.

11. And be sure to bring this up...
...every time you hear this "hate speech" squawk. Remember, a squawk is usually designed to prevent further discussion - this time to bring the debate into some harder-to-verify realm (like "what is hate speech and what is criticism?").

7. Let the Protesting begin! They haven't seen "protesting"
until they see the Dems Protest in Washintion D.C. tomorrow and then, of course, the repug convention!

They think it's "hate" cause they wouldn't recognize the Truth if it were Spoon Fed to them.

Edited on Fri Oct-24-03 05:25 PM by nothingshocksmeanymo
If they DO start a protest, JOIN them and show up with signs that say:

KKK supports Bush

WAR is good for overpopulation

GOD WANTS US TO KILL

I support the President's murderous foreign policy

Oil is WORTH the death of our troops.

Convicted gun felons for Bush

Republicans against equal rights

War is GOOD for the economy

Really...I MEAN it...get in front of the cameras too.

10. With the two dozen DUers who show up
They'll have a chance to make 30 protestors!

Har de har har. If they don't plan to pay their demonstrators at least a couple of hundred bucks, my guess is that no Repuke is going to show up just to protest.

"Har de har har. If they don't plan to pay their demonstrators at least a couple of hundred bucks, my guess is that no Repuke is going to show up just to protest."

Especially without telling their moms first (that rent has to be paid, even if they're living in the attic).

15. That's a Great Idea
I'm nowhere near MI, but I sure hope some people do this. Some more suggestions:

God Chose Bush

Saudis for Bush

If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear.

War is Peace

War for our children

Why ask why?

13. Put them in a Free Speech Zone.....
Seriously, the Dem's should insist for security reasons that any protests must be held in a Free Speech Zone blocks from the theatre.

16. You've got a point there.
After all, at least one right-winger from Michigan blew up a federal building in Oklahoma City a few years ago. I think there's still militia-types out there in eastern Michigan - it seems like there's a concentration of that type of thing around the thumb. I used to go to U of M and some guy that was real important in the Michigan Militia was a janitor there.
