That still boggles me to this day! If it was a crowd that big against the war they wouldn't have given them the time of day!

8. I remember last years. The excitement of going mingled with the sadness

and shock at losing Paul Wellstone the evening we were leaving for DC.

The euphoria of seeing the huge crowds of people who had gathered from across America.

The cops initially blocking us from marching at first because the permit had been for 10,000 people and it was obviously well over ten times that many people there.

My family and I somehow found ourselves near the front of the crowd at the barricades...completely unintentional...we were actually looking for a public restroom...

When we were swept up in a chant "The WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING! THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING! THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING!"

Indeed there were cameras everywhere.

Then Jesse Jackson walked right in front of us, there was some chitter-chat between he and cops and some others and soon the cops allowed the parade to begin.

It was all very cool.

Then of course we got back to the motel room and here that "hundreds" of people showed up in DC to protest the war... :wtf: Hundreds? HUNDREDS??!!!

That weekend was an emotional roller coaster.

I wish everyone peace and strength but I'll watch on C-Span this time.

I haven't given up activism all together, however. We are all going to do the SOA vigil in Columbus, GA next month.
