Poll question: The BIG Election! Who would you vote for.
Edited on Fri Oct-24-03 12:32 PM by Code_Name_D
If the election was held tomorrow, whom would you vote for.
Please note: Disregard any notions of "electability."

PS:Thanks for the help with the spelling.

3. That's a loaded statement
If we disregard "notions of electability" in the real thing, then we WILL lose.

7. Cartoon is dumb.
The reason it's dumb is that the point of the cartoon is supposed to be that if everyone voted for who they really wanted, Kucinich would win. But that myopic assumption ignores the fact that electability is not just confined to primary elections. One of the main reasons people support Dean and Clark is because they're actually electable. Not just by Dem primary voters, but by general election Dem voters and swing voters! The only people who are going to support Kucinich are hard-core Dem activists who are as out of touch with the mainstream and the Romanovs were from average Russians.

9. You seem to be under the impression that your primary vote really matters
With all the 'super delegate' nonsense they've added to the candidate nomination process, your primary vote is only a very, very small part of how the nominee will get nominated.

Leave the worrying about 'electibility' to the DNC itself during the primaries.

Vote your heart in the primaries, and hope it adds up to just a small bit of spin on the final choice (and platform).

So I will likely vote for someone in the primary who I have no expectation of winning the nomination. What I hope to accomplish with my primary vote is to show that there is support for the positions that candidate has taken (in the hope that this support will be taken into consideration down the road).

Look at the number of 'super delegate' votes nowdays. They are who will ultimately decide on the nominee. We just get to put 'english' on the ball with OUR primary votes.

Edited on Fri Oct-24-03 10:32 PM by elperromagico
Put "Mario Cuomo" in place of Bush.

On edit: Don't change it. I forgot that changing the rules in the middle of the game is a Republican tactic.

circles around anyone else, and I don't think it's just because he's a preacher - he's got an outstanding mind! But Braun has been getting unfairly ignored, she'll be out of it (you could argue that she is already) before much longer, but Light! - look at her positions, look at her qualifications....why does she not have a chance? Reminds me of the Paul Simon run...

on edit: and for that matter, back in 1999 I tried like crazy to persuade all my republican friends to vote for Dick Lugar. Would've been 20 times better than anyone else standing. *sigh* *going off to tilt at some windmills now*
