He said he left because many of his comments on the "religious" posts were getting "locked". He didn't feel there was enough freedom of expression, was my impression. I think he probably still reads but doesn't post. Many of us miss his cartoons and his irreverence.

9. I learned recently that the MoPaul moniker,

was the 2nd incarnation of another vociferous poster. It wouldn't surprise me if he dwells among us now with yet a third. I certainly hope so, talent and passion are commodities.

I've heard that with a dial-up connection you can simply wipe your cookies and become re-born, all pink cheeked and baby fresh. No black marks, no ignore lists, no pre-conceived notions and you get greeted as a newbie all over again, hmmmm.

His classic "When will someone say it?" post re: the obsurdity of "not one, but two" 110 story buildings falling within their own footprints is why I registered and started posting at DU. I just had to jump in.

I missed Frank, thinking that he had tired of casting pearls before swine only to learn that he had arisen again as MoPaul, now I miss MoPaul. More pearls please.

I foound his real site during the "recount days".. He's been cartooning for a long time.. I think he may have been reluctant to "out" himself when he first came here. I'd like to think I had a hand in getting him to dump Frank and be himself.. He did message me when he made the change, to let me know.... I was saddened to find that the "climate" here had driven him away.. We still are in contact, and I am sure he still reads here from time to time..

It is extrememly sad to know that the old "no-nos" are still with us....Religion & Politics.. The real oddity is that people who routinely discuss those two issues (and now they are really ONE issue)have known forever, that they must have skins as tough as leather to even GO there, but still some get hurt feelngs.. Surely, people who are deeply religious could get enough comfort from their faith, to indulge those of us who are not religious, but evangelism and intolerance run strong, just below the surface of some people's faith, and people who do not toe the line, are singled out for scorn..

Maybe Mo will drop back in after the elecion fiasco of 2004..:shrug:

I read the posts from the night he was banned. He was pushing for it - was really fed up with religion and posted multiple relgious flamebait in a matter of no time. Sometimes you jsut reach a breaking point and have had enough. I do hope he comes back, somehow, someway - I loved his honesty and if that rant isn't great, then I don't know what the hell is.
