Israel, Palestine, & the Wall: The One State solution
Now that Bush is kowtowing and pandering to the Israelis, it looks like any hope for a two-state solution is gone.

I have been looking into is lately and it seems appealing. However, the ideologues on both sides wouldn't go for it because they hate each other's guts.

That is the only thing that is stopping it.

So what do you think of it? Integration. Possible Peace.

1. I believe strongly in the one-state scenario
If we can live together in this country, Israelis could learn to get along.

2. Sure

It's the long term solution, of course. But all of the trouble lies in figuring how to get there. That's where the two state solution comes in- no one thinks it's a long term solution.

Basically, a whole bunch of the old people on both sides have to die out and the absolutists- settlers, a subset of the terrorists and Israeli army, and their leaders- forcibly dealt with. Before things can change much.

3. Locking
Had the entire post been dedicated to either Bush or our government's position vis a vis Israel I would have opted to let it remain in GD as a valid post. However after the first sentance it centered on strictly I/P with no mention of the US position or what it should be.

I am also locking it rather than moving it to I/P because it violates the posting rules for that forum and it would not be admissable there.

4. Nobody will go for it at this point...
but the one state solution is making more and more sense all the time. From the point of view of an American, it's a no-brainer.
