Poll question: which candidate is the target of the most "opposition research" here?
Edited on Fri Oct-24-03 01:35 AM by pruner
which candidate do you think people go to the most extreme lengths to hunt down quotes, articles, editorials, etc. in attempts to smear/discredit them?

1. Obvious answer - Clark
I don't even read them any more. I did not expect this kind of negativism on a dem candidate on this board. I am suspicious of the threads and will get my info elsewhere. Somebody is really terrified of a Clark candidacy. Three or four names come to mind; Bush, Dean, Kerry, Gephardt.

They've even gone to esoteric lengths like researching the Queen of England in order to smear Clark. I really don't think the Queen of England is a PNAC neo-con, no matter what you say. I just can't agree with the people in that thread. :eyes:

17. Yep, the Queen
They started a thread in P/C saying Clark's knighthood proves that he's a PNAC neo-con republican. Their "research" showed that the Queen of England only gave knighthoods to PNAC neo-cons -- if you happened to be a politician that is -- oh, and only if you were a U.S. politician. And yes, they actually tried to defend that position for an absurd number of posts, and still claim there's no proof otherwise. Yep, the Queen of England only gives knighthoods to PNAC neo-con republican, if you happen to be a U.S. politician. :eyes:

18. That may be
WOW RU. Thanks. That may be the stupidest thing I have ever heard here(not counting the 9-11 nonsense). Somebody has been reading the RW militia stuff about fringes on flags "proving" we're a military dictatorship run by UN black helicopters!! LOL.

the opposition fears Clark the most because he can win.

2. The saddest thing is
most of that opposition research is coming straight out of the Repub. party and Rove. And then it ends up here!

4. You are one of those Pruner
I really question your sincerity when you put Clark in you sig line, when it seems you go overboard to post negative or sensational posts about Clark.

Let's look at a few that you started

8. Yea Pruner, What's up with That????
Maybe GOD was expected to run?????

We only got a charismatic intelligent 4 star general who's a humanitarian to run...(yes, I was part of the Draft Clark movement)....

But no!!!!! that's just not good enough!!!

Especially when we are at war with just about the whole world....and it's all getting progressively worse!

Hey, I've got an idea,
Let's get a Yankee Vermont Governor who knows nothing about national security or international relations in there instead!!!!

Or let's just keep Bush in for 4 more years....than his brother Jeb can take over!
"IT'S YOUR ECONOMY AND YOUR WAR, STUPID!"
A REAL MILITARY HERO TELLS A GENUINE INTELLIGENCE FAILURE

11. Whoever is on top at the moment
Dean has been getting a lot of positive coverage recently. So I currently think it is probably Dean.

Couple of weeks ago, Clark was candidate of the week for the media. At that point, I am sure it was him.

If someone rises to the top later, it will be them.

12. Of course Clark
because we don't know enough about him to base a legitimate opinion on or
reach an informed judgement.

...For those of us who feel his being a retired General to show up Bush is not enough, and are somewhat uncomfortable with the fact that he was a General in a culture increasingly dominated by militarism.

13. Clark
I'm accustomed to anti-Dean attacks, but the number and intensity against Clark is luridly impressive; there is a hardcore anti-Clark group here who seem to spend most of their waking moments muckraking...

16. Clark could come our for Single Payer healthcare or Graduated income tax..
...and he'd be nailed to a cross around here for changing an opinion, pandering or waffling.

When Lieberman started looking like a dead duck, certain factions started looking for a new scapegoat. Compared to Clark, Clinton in 1992 was wearing a political "burqua".

the Skull and Bones and thrown medals stories got a huge head start.

And we know also that the anti-Kerry campaign goes all the way back to the Nixon administration.
