In Fallujah, a tense Sunni Muslim city west of Baghdad, a paratrooper from the 82nd Airborne Division was wounded by a blast from an improvised bomb, U.S. officials said.
Also Thursday, troops from the 101st Airborne Division in Mosul opened fire on four Iraqis who attacked one of their compounds with rocket-propelled grenades. Two of the Iraqis were killed, a third was injured and the fourth escaped, the military said. There were no casualties among U.S. forces.
