"Why were x number of Arabic fluent translators fired shortly after 9/11?"

As opposed to:

"Why were gay Arabic translators fired?"

Might make them think and have to research. Then they'd find out the ridiculous reasoning behind firing the translators. Leave out the gay reference, and they might be incensed enough to actually want to find out.

Also:

"Whatever happened to the study on terrorism which was due to be released in March 2001?"

As opposed to:

"Why did Bush abandon the report generated after the two-year study on terrorism?"

Keep it out of the "confrontational" mode ("Oh, blaming Bush again!!!"), and they might actually try to find out.

What other ways could we frame our concerns to make stealth issues which wouldn't, on the surface, be considered the rantings of the Left?

Like:

"What resources were used in the formation of this administration's energy policy?"

As opposed to:

"Why did Cheney only release the names of environmental groups he met with, not the big businesses, while having secret energy policy meetings?"

We might just not scare off the undecideds who may be starting to wake up.

2. Facts haven't worked...yet

Congrats on your patience. That was one of the main reasons I signed up on DU. To converse with those of like mind. Facts don't seem to phase the freeper types, their eyes just glaze over. Maybe I was in the wrong crowd.

I now find it easier to pound them with the facts, if I have to go head to head. I feel a lot better! <whew!> :evilgrin:

Maybe, like a mule, if you whack 'em with the facts, it might start to wake them up.

4. Even people from the center

can understand political debate preceeding war, the bill of rights, the concepts of a democratic republic, opposition to becoming an empire, that outing a CIA officer is wrong, lies and deception to promote a war and an overall foreign policy approach, the dangers of huge budget deficits. I'm center/left. Opposition to Bush is easy. Centrism doesn't mean someone is blind, quite the contrary (less ideological is its natural state).
