3. I know what you mean, I went to their website and it really is
heartbreaking to read the messages on that board, but the message from the moderator really upset me. they really do believe that anyone who cares about the environment, peace in the world and is in the movie industry is unpatriotic. I would like to believe that the posters on that board do not feel that same way, but you never know.

What would they say if they came to DU to read the sympathy that we have for them. Would it make a difference. Most probably not.

7. Nope, they don't like "tree huggers" or protestors with signs. Some will
never get it......but others will gradually understand what it's about and how they are being used.

Sometimes people can hate people who try to save them from things. Just a fact of life.

But, I'm still sorry for any one who thought this would be over just like "Poppy's War." That's what was sold them and now it's all changed. It's got to be tough.

4. I, for one, support the environmetal agenda and am not a tree-huggin hippy
Hippies, suck. They talk about saving the world but all they do is smoke pot and smell bad.

This land is ...

As I went rumbling that dusty highway
I saw a sign that said private property
But on the other side it didn't say nothing
This land was made for you and me.

This land is ...

Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking my freedom highway
Nobody living can make me turn back
This land was made for you and me.

(snip)
Btw everybody sucks sometime in their life, even if they don't remember it
:hippie:

5. A NAZI meme

LABEL someone and the argument is all over. Once a person's mind has been infected by the meme "Tree Hugger," it automatically stops consideration of any pro-environmental argument.

Even if just for a moment, the mind will stop to consider the spoken phrase. That moment results in a change in perception of the environmental issue, even if the person is in favor of the pro-environmental issue.

The Reich employs the tactic to stop all debate. Funny — So many of the REAL Republicans want to make the world a better place, especially the natural world.

10. Some people like houses
Most of us have quite a bit of wood product right within our sitting area. It's hypocritical to harp about not wanting one single tree cut down while sitting at a computer station made of chipboard. As long as the left allows the impression that there will be no tree cut down in the world, even if it means expanding a hospital or school, the right is going to call them treehuggers.

There's only 4% of old growth forests left in the US, let's try to save them first. And work on getting truly healthy forestation programs, that includes rational logging, for the other 96%. It's time to be reasonable or lose everything. Those are our choices.

11. It's a right-wing demonization thing.

< Enviromentalist = Tree-hugger

Feminist = Feminazi

Democrat = Traitor

And so on.......
