Freezing my maguppies for peace and protest
On Christmas Day, no less.

I am happy to report that all of seven people showed up on a cold Christmas Day for the weekly Sunday peace vigil. I almost cried when I realized that there was ANYONE standing there. When I realized they were indeed there, I blasted my newly recieved "American Idiot" CD as I went past them, and flashed a peace sign. Come to find out none of them know Green Day. Oh well. Meant something to me, anyway.

So, let's hear it for two Vietnam vets, two nuns, an Arab man, a mom, and moi, freezing our pattooties off for truth, justice, and the real American way.

3. We had 4 or 5 of our usual crowd in their usual place
(Nichols' Fountain on the Country Club Plaza) on Christmas Day too. Normally we have about 20 people there every weekend. I feel a little bad I wasn't with them Sunday, but my family has a crisis, so I was with them.

4. Applause! Your tenacity & dedication is hereby commended!
But what in the hell is a maguppie anyway? Other than something best left unfrozen...

6. Picked it up from MASH
when Klinger had to point out he was not a mama-san, because he has no magguppies.

Their those bumpy bits in front there on us girlies.

I was just impressed that anyone from the group was there, or I might not have stopped. I wouldn't have had a sign then, and one person woulda looked silly.

If was funny. The nuns started singing Silent Night in German towards the end, and I hung with one of the veterans as he explained the environmental issues he has with the prez that almost override the war issues.

7. Ours was on Saturday.
We had a usual turnout of 7 joined by two separate joggers who stopped on the spur of the moment. We also had more honks and thumbs up than usual. It's good to be reminded that there are people opposed to the war and *, no matter what Faux News says.

8. The usual turnout is around 20. We're in the middle of Sensenbrenner's
district, in a city that used to be more Dem, but now not so much. We regularly get more thumbs up than down.

I keep threatening to bring enlistment forms for the young able bodied Republicans I meet who shout unintelligable things at us.
