Is it fear of terror that drives republicans, or is it fear of EXPOSURE?
There's been a lot of discussion about how irrational fears of terrorism have destroyed the ability of most republicans to think rationally (could they ever?). I submit there is another reason they are willing to support illegal activities and surrender their freedoms; fear of being exposed as a morally bankrupt party. Deep in their heart of hearts they know Bush is a criminal and probably responsible for the worst act of treason ever perpetrated on this country, but they just can't face it. They would rather follow him down the darkest hole in the universe than give him up and watch their party implode, so they cover his ass no matter what. BECAUSE THEY ARE HIM.

1. Depends what you mean by "Republican"...
Fear of terrorism drives Republican voters. Fear of exposure drives Republican politicians

4. I suppose you're right
but I think there's a good deal of crossover there. Republicans in general have a lot at stake, and a lot to answer for, for supporting this farce in the first place.

2. It's like

For the ones who simply voted with the crowd, being married to a stock and riding it into the ground or throwing good money after bad.

For the big boys and the ones who count it's fear of exposure

3. Absolutely
If it were terrorism they feared then they would have to be concerned with this administrations total lack of competence and criminal negligence when it comes to matters of national security.

6. Or the Fact That Bushies
have supported terrorists in the past when it suited them. In fact, they helped create Al Queda.

5. It was the GOP who worked against the 1996 terror bill, so I doubt
they are concerned about terror. Their concern now is how they and their cronies can PROFIT from the terror fears of the average American citizen.

7. It is far simpler than that, and I will speak here of the idiots

still following Bush...

There is something comforting about NOT having to think and have somebody else tell you what to think. Life is simple that way, when you don't have to make any decisions on your own. They are in love with daddy, the daddy party, that tells them how to think. IN some ways they are still five year olds, relying on daddy.

The leaders know this.

It is simple really and fear of having to think is what drives them. Not drive of exposure, the moral fiber was never developed... but fear of progress and change.

8. They use fear to gain power; they use power to shroud in secrecy their
criminal acts.

Instead of rallying behind Bush after 9/11, we should have demanded why it happened on his watch.

The hard questions have not been asked. People have been gagged and too many things are conveniently classified to "protect national security."

I believe that if we really knew what happened on 9/11 (and at other times) there would be another American revolution.

12. They are stuffing their bank accounts as fast as possible. They
fear being kicked out of office and thereby losing that money flow and they fear that their misdeeds will be uncovered.
