Repuke uncle strikes again.
I have one completely kool-aid drinking branch of my family that is just plain wierd. Here is the latest email. Notice we are the devil's party. :eyes: My immediate reaction to this was that the representatives in question voted against the resolution because it is nothing but pork. It doesn't fix anything since there is no war on Christmas. Anyhow, here it is.

Anti-Christmas Voters in the U.S. House

Last week, the House of Representatives passed a resolution to protect the symbols and traditions of Christmas. The vote was 401-22 in favor of the resolution (5 voted "present"); below are the representatives that voted "nay."

· Gary Ackerman (D-NY)
· Earl Blumenauer (D-OR)
· Lois Capps (D-CA)
· Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO)
· Diana DeGette (D-CO)
· Jane Harman (D-CA)
· Alcee Hastings (D-FL)
· Michael Honda (D-CA)
· Barbara Lee (D-CA)
· John Lewis (D-GA)
· Jim McDermott (D-WA)
· George Miller (D-CA)
· Gwen Moore (D-WI)
· James Moran (D-VA)
· Donald Payne (D-NJ)
· Bobby Rush (D-IL)
· Janice Schakowsky (D-IL)
· Bobby Scott (D-VA)
· Fortney Stark (D-CA)
· Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL)
· Robert Wexler (D-FL)
· Lynn Woolsey (D-CA)

As you may notice, all are Democrats. Fast becoming the Devil's political party. Interesting!

I am going to snopes this as well since 99% of what he sends me is false.

2. how about protecting the Constitution... realize they are mentally ill you
cant help them... they will have to hit rock bottom like in AA before they can help themselves, but in the meantime they will drag us down too..

Please realize the objective of the NeoCons and this White House is to destroy the Global Economy, they feel that once the world is in ashes a UTOPIA will rise and gods glory will build a new Righteous world in his image.

the Generals in the Pentagon and enlightened others refer in the to the White House as the 'Utopians'

3. The war on xmas is over
I think xmas won (actually consumerism did) so who gives a fuck who voted how on this resolution. If this dumbass resolution has any effect on what happens next year or anytime in the future I'd be real surprised. Most likely those who voted against it did so because they didn't think congress has any fucking business passing any reslolution dealing with xmas and I agree with 'em. Like there isn't more important shit going on.

5. What about the symbols/traditions of Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, etc?
What, they don't deserve a resolution with Christians? The fact is the government should be religion neutral because this country has hard working people who are not necessarily Christians either, yet the implication is their labor and sweat is considered lesser than that of a Christian person. Unbelievable. If they want to recognize one religion's traditions, they should've done so with everybody's instead of the majority.

9. christianity is the ONLY way and yer going to hell. end of story.
that's what I was taught in the baptist church. Of course then most of the church
members were still praying for a return to the days of slavery in texas. Maybe
most of them still are praying for that.

6. The work of the "devil" is found in the malicious distortion of truth.
The Repub party has long been the "devil's" political party. In fact, Lee Atwater was clearly the right-hand man of the "devil."

8. I truly don't understand how people can be so goddamn dumb
Even Cal Thomas, that republican hatefilled shill for fuck's sake, sees the absurdity of saying there's a war on Christmas and that he doesn't need affirmation from a retail store for his faith. He had a great column last week about it.

Every person who voted for this abominable legislation should be tried for treason.

Christmas needs no protection in House
EMANUEL CLEAVER II Special to The Star

<skip>

I clearly understand my colleague's immaculate motivation in sponsoring a House resolution "expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the symbols and traditions of Christmas should be protected." (The House passed it 401-22.)

I must disagree theologically with the case of need.

<skip>

Make no mistake, however. Christmas is not under attack. The baseless fear that somehow so-called "political correctness" is a serious threat to Christmas is bad theology.

<skip>

Those of us in the House have no jurisdiction in this matter. The most productive and protective thing that Congress can do for Christmas is to leave it alone.

<skip>

Understand this: If Congress has the power to protect Christmas, it stands to reason that is also has the power to dismiss it. I refuse to allot Congress that power, and for sure, God is not amused.

The true expression of Christmas is not a sign, song or symbol. It is a celebration of the believer's faith in the Incarnation.

In our multicultural society, we should remain mindful and respectful that Christmas is not a festival for all faiths. Jesus was demonstrably tolerant of other cultures, and therefore the celebration of his birth should provide comfort for his followers and cause them to do the same.

<skip>

Emanuel Cleaver II, a Democrat, represents Missouri's 5th Congressional District. He is the senior pastor of St. James United Methodist Church in Kansas City.

Cleaver is also a former mayor of KC and a great Dem.

12. Media Matters also has a nice piece on the silliness--
Apparently one House member spoofed the situation by reading a poem on the House floor during debate, and it was featured on both Countdown and Fox. Media Matters' story starts off:

"O'Reilly, Olbermann showed different versions of Dingell Christmas poem

Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor and MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann aired two very different interpretations of Rep. John Dingell's poem on the so-called "war" on Christmas. The Factor omitted portions of the poem imploring Congress to focus on more important issues and characterized the poem as a malevolent attack on Fox News, while Countdown included those portions. ..."

16. Well...
Nice to see that the Republican controlled US Congress has the time to protect Christmas from the evil boogeyman.:sarcasm:

Survivors of Katrina scattered to the 4 corners of the country away from home & family; living in tents, motels, or temporary shelters.
*It was mentioned on a blog about this last Iraq election - we spent so much getting them able to vote while Gulf Coast residents scattered to the winds here at home might not have the chance if something's not done a.s.a.p..

Christmas vanishes for families scattered on wind by hurricane
