Can Bush survive 2006?
Yes if the Republican Congress and Senate refuse to do anything.
But will they act?

That is all up to the American People. Lastest poll result in MSNBC on impeachment shows 86% say YES
kick his butt and is based on 150k plus respondents.

2006 if the Republican fails to act and the majority of the people are real pissed off the RP will lose big time.
However the issue here would depend on how well the election is held. Dieblod comes into mind here.
The counting machine needs to be check.
Who control what? Can they pull off another election victory with machines.
If they can then they safe.

If not. Then Bush is history.

But given the trends that I see on what the Republican are doing they seem to be extremely confident of a win. Although crack are showing but one has to admit they are all still in lockstep. But if a fair election can be held. Me think they all be shitting big time in their pant by now. While spying and impeachment talks all fine, nothing will change if the election process can be tampered with.
Cause then they still has control of the Congress.

But Republican need also to ask themselves, what do you do after that? What do you do when his head explode with all the ideas of him being the greatest President of the USA and that he is above all even the Congress. What do you do with a President who know nuts about running a country? What do you do with a President that only cares for himself and not the country? What do you do about a President who is totally fascinated with WAR? What do you do with a WAR PRESIDENT that run amok?

Well you got to live with him for the next 3 years and pray he dont blow you up. (KABOOOM)

14. "Language never my strong point."??? Nonsense!!
We Americans seem strangely willing to assess the language abilities of others based solely on their written or spoken English, and ignore the fact that multilingual people demonstrate a far greater language ability than most of us ... who barely speak our own.

We tend to be so unfamiliar with other languages that we can't see how widely varying they can be in conveying various temporal and social senses. Several Asian languages, for instance, are moe sparse in their time-sense, relying not on verb conjugations as much as other constructs to convey past, past-perfect, and other time-senses. At the same time, English offers few if any tools to convey the honorifics or socially-rooted noun variants.

Personally, I'm always impressed when I encounter someone using English as a secondary language particularly when it's clear that their first language is one that's not a Western European language ... and is particularly one that's so linguistically diverse from English as Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese, or Korean or even Thai, Tamil, or Bahasa Melayu. It wasn't until I was in my mid-to-late 20s that I even began to be aware of how different languages could be. When I began to try to learn Vietnamese (and failed miserably) and discovered that inflection (tonal variants that I equated to mere emotional expression and emphasis) was deeply-rooted in the very vocabulary, it blew my mind. I never knew the diacritical marks were so significant, when my only language had none. When I learned that Japanese conjugates according to about 15 levels of honorific and has far fewer conjugations for sense of time, I was stunned.

19. I haven't (yet). (Viet Nam was the closest I got.)
However, I worked several years in the semiconductor industry for a company that had several manufacturing facilities in Malaysia and, due to the nature of my job (operational analysis), came in contact with a number of people from there or who'd lived there for years. I'm an obsessively curious (nosey) person, so I gather (harvest?) as much as I can from whomever I meet.

21. While I'd probably visit Kuala Lumpur and Penang, ...
Edited on Mon Dec-26-05 01:36 PM by TahitiNut
... my phototropic propensities (as an amphibious sun-worshipper) would probably lead me to Langkawi and Terengganu and the water and beaches there. That general part of the world (Southeast Asia and Micronesia) is so awesomely rich in natural beauty and culture that it's hard to even imagine a cogent itinerary for a visit.

24. My post was intended as a compliment. On secretaries, back
during the 2000 election dispute I posted this at another board:

"Why can't Republicans spell?"

I got this response:

"We have people to do that."

4. Yeah
my thoughts too.
What really scary is the abitlities of the Republican Congress to push through Bills that real benefits the minority and screw the majority of the people.
You cant do that blantantly and survive in politic. And I for one dont think this people are sucidal.

6. I think they're under the illusion that they have...
A permanent majority. Right after the 2004 election, they were actually saying that they could see themselves in power for a generation . Which only fuels my suspicions about rigged elections.

5. I think Dems would be ill prepared
for radical steps with the candidates they would likely field even with massive gains. I think the GOP is too paralyzed to do anything except pass the buck. The media is compromised beyond the point of getting on top of the impeachment. ironically the great majority has spun against the president while the playing field and rules above are largely unchanged and not as likely to change in 2006 as the purposefully blurred popular will now wants.

Even the voting machines as an issue is blurred and off screen much less what actually should happen to a host of unimpeded, unconfronted criminal actions Congress practically ignored.

"Bush is toast" is always in the rosy future. Looking around all I see are glowing red wires around us.

8. It's a gamble
The repubs will have to decide whether they want Hassert in charge or take a gamble and Pelosi could be in charge. The next few months will tell. If DeLay goes down, most likely Bush will go down too, and Chaney won't be far behind. Then of course, Fitzgerald is also in the mix. So, the next few months should be interesting.

10. It is indeed
Bush going to sink the Republican party. They better of throwing him overboard for the sharks.
Oh well their call. They can get away with 2006 but that will be the last straw. Don't think the people will take this lying down no more.

Tough call for the repuke. Frying pan or the fire. Not much of a choice.

Much shit to clean up. Sucky job. Me think they might just sneak off to count their ill gotten gain and rest for awhile.

9. Even if we actually have elections next year and take back congress
Edited on Mon Dec-26-05 09:42 AM by robbedvoter
(big if, as Diebold is spreading), remember how timid Dems in congress are - don't hold your breath.
They'll maybe huff and puff a day or two, then they'll settle the advantage for some committee crumbles of apparent power - like they sold the challengingstolen election in 2001 (no senator joined the CBC).

The BIG Corporation has plenty of hold in both parties. They got the big buck. Me think buck will swing toward Democrats. But they created a monster and they need to step up to clean up this mess also.
