War on Saturnalia MUST STOP
Edited on Fri Dec-23-05 04:56 PM by PretzelWarrior
I am so sick of the Christianizing of my pagan holiday. My forebears celebrated the waning of the winter solstice and the new days of spring just ahead in a wild revelry the the God, Saturn, and they enjoyed merrily playing pranks, getting drunk, engaging in orgies, and the like.

Then, in the 4th century, the Emperor COnstantine and the Pope tried to co-opt my festival to mythical dieties by calling it the day of Jesus Christ's birth. For centuries, we've been pushed to the sidelines while the real meaning of Saturnalia is neglected and people go along with this charade of Christmas with all its piety and religious overtones.

The Yule log, lighted trees, and candles in the window were all stolen from my holiday begging for the return of the sun and now they claim it is all about the birth of the son. Pshhawww!

WHen I walked into a small coffee shop, the politically correct owner didn't say "Happy Saturnalia"....no. HE bowed to peer pressure and said, MERRY CHRISTMAS. Sir, I am putting you on notice. I will be telling everyone to grab their java elsewhere because of the way you offend us pagans with your modern Christianizing of a tried and true celebration.

I will be reporting every day (or when I feel like it)about the many ways we Pagans are continually downtrodden by AMerican culture and religion as they foist this modern spin on my holiday.

1. I want to see lighted-up Pentagrams
next to the Xmas trees and menorahs.

Dec. 21 should be a national holiday.

Incense purchases should be tax deductible, since they are used for worship.

4. Who would we vote for?
First we have to get some Pagans to run for office.

The Pagan Party has a nice ring to it. Our motto could be "The never-ending party"

How about a platform?
