Murtha: Rumsfeld's announced drawdown "not what I had in mind".
Congressman John Murtha, a decorated Vietnam War veteran who shook the establishment recently by calling for a full troop withdrawal from Iraq, said Friday's announcement fell short of his expectations.

"That's not what I had in mind," he said in a statement. "Our logistics convoys remain vulnerable and the US troops remain the targets.

"Our presence in Iraq continues to unify the insurgents against the US forces," he added. "We have to give the Iraqis a timetable to take charge of their own destiny."

1. the bush admin draw down is akin to the 1970-75 vietnam drawdown;
a long bloody expensive and fruitless process. Not the same as the murtha proposal.

2. Right
They will do this stupid thing, and then blame Murtha saying, "See! I told you so!"

I'm glad Murtha spoke out... again.

3. They're just withdrawing the extra troops they put in before the election

big fucking deal! So now we'll be down to pre-election levels, . I certainly hope the American people don't fall for this charade. It means nothing. Rumsfeld is still a rat-shit liar, nothings changed.

4. Not even
They sent in 20,000 for the election.

They're pulling out 7,000.

5. I just posted on another thread that 7,000 troops
out of a total of 160,000 equals = 0.04%. That's nothing; a mere token number.

I read Rumsfailed's mind today. He thinks this will satisfy the public and guarantee Repub victory next November. RumsFool is too old to figure out that it won't work.

6. It's actually .04 or 4%...
but you're right, still a token amount.

9. Oh good
I don't even want them to pretend 7,000 is an adequate drawdown to seriously begin turning Iraq over.

10. It's not what any sane, oriented military person had in mind.
These guys just can't help themselves. I don't think they know how to do anything else but lie, cheat, and steal. Oh, and blow things up... like countries and families and wedding parties.

Kids today. :eyes:
