Wait till Congresscritters find out they have been spied on
If you think this NSA Spy story has no traction - just wait till those lugheads on Capitol Hill find out they have been bugged and spied on. Ya think it might just give them some impetus to move on impeachment. My sense is that there are a whole bunch of folks up there who might just see this as their opportunity to get even including several Repukes.

1. Yes. Anyone who thinks they are exempt from this Cabal
is sorely mistaken!

Peace.

2. It took them quiet some time to realize it during the Nixon years
because all those old boys think they're rich and powerful enough to be immune, that the wiretaps are only against us nobodies.

Well, they got warrants against all the nobodies.

Eventually it will dawn on those overfed, overpaid, pampered sons of bitches in the halls of gummint that they were likely prime targets of warrantless spying.

Nixon left office when his own party realized they'd been targeted. It's only a matter of time before GOP congressmen start thinking stuff like , "Oh, that's how they found out about my mistress/stock sale/corporate perk that looks like a bribe!"

And that's when we'll see some action on this.

3. They must realize they've been targets. After all, the Bush Admin. was
*caught* spying on UN Security Council members. Remember that? There's no doubt in my mind that the Bush Admin. has been spying on their domestic political enemies as well.

4. Not To Disagree -- But Everyone Should Know They're Vulnerable
Certainly since 9/11, but really for most of the past decade, most folks should have known their phone and e-mail communication was potentially under surveillance. The recent developments certainly anger me, but they simply confirm what I've strongly suspected for quite some time. Surely lawmakers, and anyone in power in the world, knows that their phones and e-mail are not secure -- or they should have known.

7. Typically human, I suppose.
There is a big difference between "knowing," sort of, intellectually, and KNOWING, where the dawning "Aha!" and the oh-my-gods! become a nervous tic as more and more connections are explained and so-called "coincidences" suddenly appear in a new light.
Our society, as with any large group of people, I suppose, has never, over the long theater, changed direction because of moral conviction, more like a pendulum swing, stumbling from disgust to depravity and back.
By the time one gets to the political powerhouse pay grade the table of contents for the nefarious skeleton closet probably looks pretty grim - certainly nothing one would want in the hands of anyone who would use it.

8. With four years of the souls of nearly all Americans
exposed to them, at least somewhat? I think the only answer is, "Of course they have."
Having even a limited version of St. Peter's mission statement would be way too much temptation for these ethical and moral midgets.

9. The blogger, John Aravosis, thinks it is the media
who has been illegally spied upon. After all, the national media has many, many overseas contacts, some with ties to terrorist organizations. When tring to get stories, they frequently talk to "pretty suspicious characters", making them prime targets of wireless searches. Take Christiane Amanpour (sp) or that NBC guy who has been in Iraq for so long...you know they have developed some sources/ contacts that the bush admin would love to have access to. IF the MSM gets wind of some of their reporters being illegally spied upon, the shit might hit the fan....or, you are absolutely correct, if this was used for domestic spying, the shit will really hit the fan...FISA is for foreign contacts only (not that that means anything to the bushies.)
