Depating a FReep: Need references to conservatives calling us traitors etc
I am scouring Media Matters and finding some things. Anyone with a comprehensive list could help me out bundles!

He says that conservative commentators never said liberals sympathize with terrorists. I know Rove said this once at a fundraiser...don't have the exact quote though.

TIA!

7. Bingo, another lazy Freep making you collect evidence...
for some stupid erroneous statement.

Then, when you actually do the research that they would never ever do they bitch about your research.

You're wasting your time. Excuse me, THEY'RE wasting your time. A favorite Freeper pastime.

12. BINGO! this is why I NEVER research for them.
as you correctly point out: they make you hunt for obvious things, then when you find it, they'll nitpick your sources, and then they'll bring up something else for you to run down the rabbithole on.

not worth it: once they've drunk the koolaid, they're gone anyhow.
Believe me, I spent several years on a mixed board and beat my head against the wall several times.
Even when you give them a royal smackdown, they deny it and claim they got the better of you, completely in opposition to reality.

If he doesn't have anyone around to protect him he'll slink away.
That's how fake bullies act.
There is no war on terror. Republicans are greedy sissies. The sky is not falling.
Democrats are even going to be nice to the Republicans when we take back the country.

Or better yet, just ignore him.
Parsing words and wordsmithing to control unwinnable arguments are hallmarks of the right. It's Debate team 101. Don't fall for it.
A blind man could see the culture of corruption. Truth will always win and needs no defense.

6. The exact quote from Rove is
Edited on Fri Dec-23-05 02:05 PM by Ron Mexico
"Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war. Liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers."

14. Some commentators
"So when you want to talk about, Sen. Boxer, the insurgents are winning the propaganda war, my question is, 'Who's helping them? Who's assisting them? Who's going ape and bananas over Abu Ghraib and Gitmo? Who is aiding and abetting them? Who, who is it when they speak in this country -- the terrorists sit back and laugh themselves silly?' It's you, Sen. Boxer, and members of your party." - Rush Limbaugh
http://mediamatters.org/items/200507080003

"The Democrats are giving aid and comfort to the enemy for no purpose other than giving aid and comfort to the enemy. There is no plausible explanation for the Democrats' behavior other than that they long to see U.S. troops shot, humiliated, and driven from the field of battle." -- Ann Coulter
http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/anncoulter/2005/11/24/176727.html

"I'm declarin' war on the ACLU. I think they're a terrorist group. They're terrorizin' me and my family. They're terrorizing me. I think they're terrorists." -- Bill O'Reilly
http://mediamatters.org/items/200503030007

"(Tom Daschle is) out there broadcasting this to the world. This is getting such coverage who knows what kind of aid and comfort it might be providing the people that we're attempting to bring to justice here, either legally or militarily." -- Rush Limbaugh

22. Thanks, EarlG
I combined these with 7 other quotes I found.

I am not letting this conservative off the hook. I will keep presenting him with facts until he admits that he is being a purveyor of a misinformed viewpoint.

Might it take forever? Of course. But I like pissing them off by creating a high level of cognitive dissonance. Plus, it's worth it for other observers of the debate to realize who has the facts on their side, and who has conjecture and commentary.

18. What Rove said
After 9/11 liberals wanted to understand the terrorists. (I thought smart people understood their enemies.) He added we wanted to give them therapy.

Google Rove terror liberal therapy. Maybe you'll find it.

then ask them if that is the reason they justify our government stealing our constitutional rights as Americans by spying on us?

23. Here's a good link
http://www.spinsanity.org/topics/#War

Tons of links contained here, many of which address this subject. I'm sure most of us can remember quite clearly the atmostphere of intimidation that was deliberately created to stifle the voices of those who criticized or even questioned the administration's military actions. And to silence any expression of doubt, or to silence accusations that Bush was politicizing the war on terra. The most common technique of stifling any expressed opposition was either to claim that even mild dissent was somehow helping the enemy, and even worse, to claim critics were actively rooting for and offering aid and comfort to the enemy.

John Ashcroft:
"To those who pit Americans against immigrants, and citizens against non-citizens; to those who scare peace-loving people with phantoms of lost liberty; my message is this: Your tactics only aid terrorists - for they erode our national unity and diminish our resolve. They give ammunition to America's enemies, and pause to America's friends."

Tom Delay:
“These are people that don't want to protect the American people... hey will do anything, spend all the time and resources they can, to avoid confronting evil.”

Andrew Sullivan:
"he decadent Left in its enclaves on the coasts is not dead - and may well mount what amounts to a fifth column"
"e might as well be aware of the enemy within the West itself - a paralyzing, pseudo-clever, morally nihilist fifth column that will surely ramp up its hatred in the days and months ahead."

Michael Kelly:
"The American pacifists, therefore, are on the side of future mass murders of Americans. They are objectively pro-terrorist."

Rush Limbaugh:
"n essence, Daschle has chosen to align himself with the axis of evil."

Oliver North:
"(Daschle) has now joined Ted Turner and the Ayatollah Khomeini and Saddam Hussein and Vladimir Putin, who are people who don't like the term 'axis of evil.'"

Robert Novak (on Crossfire):
"Barbara Krull sends me an e-mail saying, 'It is patriotic to debate foreign policy, especially when we have troops on the ground whose lives depend on our making sound policy.' Barbara, it was people like you who undermined our forces in the Vietnam War and brought Communist tyranny to a country that doesn't deserve it."
