Goshen - First there was a complaint about tribal masks along the walls of the Goshen School District's administrative building. Then there was the discussion about a misinterpreted theater prop hanging in the building's auditorium.

Around the same time, another resident approached Superintendent Roy Reese about tribal masks, some of them resembling the devil, crafted by students and displayed at the district's offices.



Reese listened for three hours to John Giglio, who grilled him about the masks. Reese's explanation that the masks were not intended to have religious significance did little to placate Giglio.

"They have no tolerance for God in the school system, but to have devil masks is OK?" Giglio objected.
