One odd thing the NSA story does is blow *'s Katrina defense up
since his followers kept saying time and time again that the reason * didn't do anything about New Orleans was that he wasn't asked and until then the law tied his hands. But these same people are now saying that to save american lives and keep people safe * had to go outside the law. Not only that, the illegal wiretaps were being done long before Katrina made landfall. So if the president's powers allowed him to ignore one set of laws why did he chose to obey the others? American lives were in danger in New Orleans as well.

I know it's far to much to expect any kind of constancy about this group - but it's grim fun to point out the contradictions they make for themselves.

1. pity for nola that hurricane was name "katrina" instead of "kalid"
if we start naming natural disasters after islamic boogeymen, maybe THAT will get the banana republicans to spring into action.

3. Good point!
The biggest contradiction -- and this one always SLAYS me -- is people who say Bush and his Admin are good Christians, who reflect solid Christian values.

How many Americans were left to die in NOLA? How many Americans are still suffering due to Katrina?

What kind of 'Christian' would allow any of that to happen?

4. They destroyed the "law tied his hands" thing with their prep for Rita.

He was at Northern Command in Colorado for the photo op, had 55,000 federal troops mobilized ready to respond, etc. for Rita. I don't think any laws changed in those couple of weeks between the two hurricanes.

On edit: but good catch, you are certainly correct. It also puts the federal government's ability to have "situational awareness" where and when they want it IF they want it.

5. Shrubbies tied the hands
of the Army COE by stripping the funding from the budget. The levees were left unrepaired so RICH BUSH CRONIES could get tax breaks. That's Bush values, nothing Christian about it PERIOD. Money for the rich who don't need it death for the poor.
