A Sad Day

Posted on 12/23/2005 8:20:18 AM PST by Hunter Q Jones

George W. Bush has ripped the Constitution down from the White House wall, used it to blow his nose, spat on it, torn it into shreds, thrown the shreds in the trash, then squatted over that trash and taken a dump.

And what have the "Conservatives" at FR done while he was doing this? They cheered him on!

A truly sad day.

If the founding fathers had wanted the President to be spying on our phone calls, they would have said so.

2. What a weird place
The responses are so juvenile, like it's a bunch of 13-year-olds having fun with their teenager-speak.

3. The payoff is in the last line
"If the founding fathers had wanted the President to be spying on our phone calls, they would have said so."

The only way I think it could have been funnier is if the person had said "cell phone calls." But it's pretty damn funny as it is.

12. Zot is their "tombstone"
From the B.C. comic strip - a blast of lightning hits someone or something - accompanied by the sound "effect" ZOT!

And, on that extension, I would expect that IBTZ would mean "I Bet Their Zotted" (mis-spelling intended by me - to show freepish mental age; should be "I Bet They're Zotted").

And this from someone who hasn't been to FR in ages . . .

14. I think it stands for
"in before the zot", meaning that they replied before the poster was zotted. They seem to take some sort of childish delight in "achieving" that. I guess it's because their fantastic, on-the-job, no-nonsense, eagles up, burly moderators are so fiendishly quick in zotting (how I hate using that stupid word).

21. Another attempt at decoding FReeperese
I think "IBTZ" means "In before the zot". In other words, they show their mettle by being quick to post this abbreviation, getting their post in before a moderator bans the offending account.

This competition takes the place of thinking about and responding to the substance of the post.

15. IBTZ (in before the Zot) is Freeper for "Don't confuse us with facts"
The instant the Freepers see anything that doesn't conform to their worldview, they immediately delete it from their website, lest they have to face the evidence of how wrong-headed and hard-hearted they are.

They call such deletions "ZOTS" and have come up with quite a few graphics to request that such a zot happen whenever 'unmutual' articles appear on their tightly controlled echo chamber.

Then they cheer and celebrate that they have once again avoided a confrontation with an opposing point-of-view -- and once again kept other delicate Freepers (who can't handle facts) from seeing one.

"In Before The Zot" is another way of saying "book burning."

19. Hard to believe
that the kids at FR don't recognize a) the humor of the final line, b) the fascinating subtext of that final line, that the Constitution is a living, breathing document that continually evolves to deal with the modern world.

I suppose I don't need to comment on the irony of their using a term from a prehistoric comic.
