Pastor's wife says she chose to leave plane
Victoria Osteen, the wife of Houston Lakewood Church pastor Joel Osteen, said ``I did not act in any way that would cast a bad light on you, my family, Lakewood Church or our Lord Jesus Christ.''

the OTHER side of the story, but the people involved are most likely prohibited from speaking out for fear of losing their jobs.

2. What a bitch!!
FBI spokeswoman Luz Garcia said Osteen "failed to company with the flight attendant's instructions, and they were asked to leave the plane."

The plane's door had been closed when Victoria Osteen and a flight attendant had a verbal disagreement.
A spill on Victoria Osteen's seat was not cleaned to her satisfaction, a church spokesman said.

The Osteens and their two children debarked a flight bound for Vail, Colo., after boarding in Houston on Monday.
The flight was delayed for more than an hour while the Osteens' luggage was retrieved, authorities said.

They should have tossed her ass off and told her "tough shit" about your luggage.

6. I thought I read that it wasn't the seat, but the tray table.
Claiming it was the seat makes her position slightly more sympathetic, but not for me. They should have shipped their luggage to Vail anyway.

14. I believe TSA rules require that the luggage be removed. Otherwise
a terrorist could get on a plane, create an incident that got himself thrown off, and the luggage containing a bomb would remain on the plane.

21. I would concur that her bitch status is not in question. Anyone who is
fortunate enough to be flying first class to go skiing at Vail ought to be gracious enough to demonstrate a little forbearance with the hired help and not expect everything to be purr-fect. A little water on a tray or even a seat is not something to get your knickers all twisted up about. I am sure the attendants would have cleaned it up as soon as possible. It is not as if they didn't have anything else to do to get ready for take off. And she couldn't have used a napkin or paper towel to mop up the liquid in the meantime? Sheesh!

39. ok got to play devil's advocate here
if it were a black man who had paid for a first class ticket and the flight attendant did not properly clean up the spill, would your answer change?

a customer, who paid either a great deal of money for her ticket or else had an upgrade based on her loyalty to the airline, was disrespected and told to clean up a mess she didn't make

it wouldn't be ok if this happened to a man

it's ok it happened to a woman

why?

so I really feel for those flight attendants who have more important things to tend to than spills, like keeping your ass alive in case of an emergency. She ought to apologize to that flight crew.

FA's could use it too, no doubt:

"Nurses are here to save your ass, not kiss it."

I'm sure it would go over real big in my workplace's parking lot..the HOSPITAL parking lot.

Maybe I better make it a magnetic bumper sticker that can be removed 3 nights/week....

42. not to be mean but...
one of my friends spent several hundred thousands dollars on his cancer treatment

he was bankrupted & lost everything

yes, for that kind of money, his ass should have been kissed

it shouldn't be too much to ask when a product is billing you for more than you can earn legally in your entire life that the nurses and doctors treat us like something other than cattle

as for the flight attendant, there is a need for FAs in coach, if she is not capable of dealing with stress or the elite customer, then she should not be in the forward cabin anyway

36. God wants him to live in his mansion...
http://www.theocracywatch.org/rel_inst_post_osteen_jan30_05.htm

He is unapologetic that he lives well in a $1 million house in an upscale neighborhood and that he is pouring the church's offerings into the Compaq Center these days, not into charities.

"I feel like God wants us to prosper," he said. "My dad grew up in the Depression. . . . It is not God's will for anybody to live where you can't support your family. . . . Roger Clemens just signed for $18 million -- man, don't tell me I can't have a nice house and send my kids to college."

-------------

Uh-huh...well, unfortunately, dude, chimp and his people make it harder and harder for **alot** of people to support their families and send their kids to school. Guess you and chimp are talking to 2 different Gods??

22. Could we show some tolerance here, please? Joel Osteen does!
Joel Osteen is not your typical gay-bashing fundie TV Minister.

"KING: How about issues that the church has feelings about? Abortion? Same-sex marriages?

OSTEEN: Yeah. You know what, Larry? I don't go there. I just ...

KING: You have thoughts, though.

OSTEEN: I have thoughts. I just, you know, I don't think that a same-sex marriage is the way God intended it to be. I don't think abortion is the best. I think there are other, you know, a better way to live your life. But I'm not going to condemn those people. I tell them all the time our church is open for everybody.

KING: You don't call them sinners?

OSTEEN: I don't.

KING: Is that a word you don't use?

OSTEEN: I don't use it. I never thought about it. But I probably don't. But most people already know what they're doing wrong. When I get them to church I want to tell them that you can change. There can be a difference in your life. So I don't go down the road of condemning."

If the real Jesus showed up in his road-weary garments, Ms. Osteen no doubt would throw him out of her "clean" church.

What kind of example does this couple set, when there is so much sorrow in the world, and this prissy bitch is freaked about a stain on a tray on her way to a ski trip? Maybe she should be travelling to the Gulf instead, comforting children and bringing hope to the hopeless. Guess it's too "messy' down there for such pristine Christians....

She has no business bringing up Jesus, IMHO. She doesn't know the guy or what he stood for and she never will.

I am a seeker though. His messages are much more evolved than any other televangelist I have ever heard. He isn't perfect - of this I am sure and I have not watched much of his show.

However, I think that you should be feeding the poor too instead of taking your next vacation, we all should. Your rule should apply to all of us then.

He is one of the people we should all hope gets a bigger audience. He stated on Larry King that he would not judge those who didn't believe as he does. That is about the most profound statement a religious person can make. That is why I'd give him a fair shake.

46. Christmas is a MINOR Christian Holiday
Anyone who thinks that Christmas is one of "the holiest of days" on the Christian calendar is not well-acquainted with Christianity, and is perhaps not familiar with the Christian teaching of removing the beam from one's own eye before criticizing the mote in one's brother's eye. In other words, Judge Not.

The Nativity is a holy day of obligation for Roman Catholics and Anglicans. That elevates it above minor status in those faiths. What Christian faiths treat it as a minor holiday? Just wondering.

20. Where would Jesus ski?
Oh dear. I don't have a problem with folks going to Vail or Aspen or wherever. If you can afford it, and such conspicuous consumption suits your taste, then go for it, says I. But don't pretend that this is somehow consistent with the Gospel, Sister Victoria.

Now, I know that the gospels have Jesus withdrawing from time to time, and there is no indication of all that he may have been doing on these personal retreats. Praying is mentioned, but I'd guess that with all that was going on around him, Jesus did a little more than that, and considering the yahoos he had to put up with, I'd also surmise that these retreats were even more frequent than the gospels record.

But I don't find any record and it would be quite inconsistent with the rest of the narrative to think that Jesus was heading off to Herod's palace in Jerusalem for a week of overpriced recreation. Go to Vail if that's what you want to do, Sister Victoria, but leave Jesus out of it, okay? I ask this in the spirit of Paul's dictum that insofar as it is up to you, to live peaceably with all.

25. "What you see is what you get, and I don’t see any hypocrisy in it"
Ole Anthony of the Trinity Foundation, which is the watchdog group that monitors TV preachers, explained that nobody has ever pointed a finger at Joel Osteen and suggested a hint of the kind of improprieties that sent Jim Bakker to jail, or shamed Jimmy Swaggert, or even raised questions about evangelist Binny Hinn.

According to Ole Anthony, "The greatest thing that has caused people to turn away from the church is they see hypocrisy, and he is what he is. What you see is what you get, and I don’t see any hypocrisy in it and I applaud him for that."
