Tehran Arrests 14 Pro-Union Bus Drivers
http://www.rferl.org/featuresarticle/2005/12/68c02bdb-aaf7-47a4-8d51-f437c38929e6.html

Washington, 22 December 2005 (RFE/RL) -- Iranian authorities have arrested 14 members of a group representing thousands of Tehran bus drivers for engaging in "illegal activities."

The group has been staging protests for months as part of efforts to form an independent union and have wages paid.

Talk about karma!!! Is this what the future holds for America??

I just find this story fascinating, especially in light of what has recently happened in NYC.

Amazing that the Republican Party's views on unions is so similar to Iran's.

Things that make you go hmmmm.

Somewhere in Bentonville, Arkansas corporate executives are targeting Tehran for future Wal-Marts. It's their kind of town.

Maybe they are finally beginning to see the light

2. More from the article. C'mon DU! This is "hugh"
"(The agents) only told me I should not be worried, he is safe," she said. "They told me they took my husband to ask him a few questions. They said he would be back soon but they did not tell me where he is now and how we can pursue his situation."

An official of the bus drivers' syndicate told Radio Farda that drivers will begin new work stoppages on 25 December if those arrested are not released."

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Please read the above and tell me this is not eerily similar to what is going on here!

People being quietly spitited away for "questioning", union busting, all in the name of "homeland" security, workers conducting an "illegal" strike, etc.

Someone should throw this at Snotty McClellan at a press conference.

I'd love to see Chimpy and the neo-con Pubs forced to either defend workers rights to assemble and strike, or Iran's right to arrest union members.

The unions are the last line in the battle between the "haves, and the have-nots".
