First of all let me say that for the last 20+ years I have worked in a company which employs over 160,000 people. The company was an international major defense contractor with government contracts in excess of $90Bn over the last 20 years or so.
What I want to talk about is change within a large organization. IT TAKES TIME. A major part of change within any large organization is cultural in nature. People do the same thing over and over, and it becomes a part of their daily ritual.
In any attempt to change how a corporation functions it is necessary to overcome the inertia created by the employees daily rituals. This is very frustrating. In the organization I worked for we had division controllers taking positions that were not appropriate to either the best interests of the company or the government.
Nobody wants to fire anyone in a company. It creates problems; lots of problems. So over a period of 5 years we worked to change peoples attitudes and actions. In the end The Force prevailed and the dark side lost.
What I am trying to say is this: that to change culture of a company of 160,000 employees in 5 years is good. But to change the culture of an entire nation of 250,000,000+ people in just over 5 year is nothing short of a miracle. It takes time to lay the foundation for such change, it takes time to prepare the people to accept the changes that are required.
Bill Clinton was right when he said that the people of this country were not ready to accept impeachment two or three years ago. But, due in no small part to DU and AAR and the many many other organizations we are now poised on the brink of reclaiming our freedom.
What I am saying is this; that the people of this country needed to be prepared for the change that is now upon us as a nation. This change goes well beyond that of merely impeaching Bush. It should strike at the heart of corporate law, mandating the revocation of the corporate charters of corporations convicted of felonies and holding the shareholder and directors liable; and changing the nature of foreign aid so as to avoid foreign kickbacks to corporations such as halliburton.
I doubt very much that any of the frauds which have been exposed during the last year would have been possible if Kerry had won the election. Rather I think that we would be looking at an other impeachment of a democratic president for some menial issue.
Perhaps Kerry made the right choice in not challenging the election results in the last presidential election. If he was really playing chess & not checkers then: Checkmate game over (at least for the next 4 years).
Merry Christmas to all and to all a Goodnight.
