"...Americans are the greatest on earth - Everyone wants to kill Americans - but we are wonderful people - la, la, la...The liberal media won't say how wonderful Iraq is doing and all of the wonderful things that our soldiers are doing for them.... la, la, la, torture? These are the messages that I've been getting from some wingnuts I know.

So they send these messages out that are written or put together by think-tank people (only they say they are written by an "Australian Dentist" or something). They bitch and moan about how victimized they are that the media does not present this rosy point of view (another idea from the think-tank people). And it's a trap.

Because then - when YOU tell the truth - or point them to a liberal media source that is telling the truth - then their evil that they support gets reflected on you the messenger.

Here you are thinking you are bringing them information that they are not getting - which is probably perfectly true - they are not getting the true story and they don't want to get it. They want to sound like the angels of peace - even while you are the one who really wants peace.

They don't want to worry their little heads about death and torture and the US use of chemical weapons. It doesn't sound nice to talk about those things.

Their created reality. It's difficult to know if any of them have a clue about what is real - I don't think they do after multiple exchanges - and it freaks me out that they are so adamant about not knowing. And there is no way that I can get through to them.

And I hate it that their PR strategy is so effective. These are the core 30% who will never believe any reasonable news source or news story - because anything reasonable is "liberal" to them.
