I think it's FUNNY the Senate is STILL working!!!!!
I just flipped on cspan2 to see what was on, and the Senate is still LIVE!!!!

They're playing a repeat of Gonzales' speech on the Patriot Act, but it's a split screen. The other half says they're waiting for the Senators to return to the floor.

I find it very amusing that these money grubbing idiots have to will be "working" this close to a Holiday, and at 11:30PM!!! Betcha tempers aren't very tame right now.

2. They are still trying to pass the Patriot Act renewal bill, and
the Defence Appropriations bill.

Frist is BSing now. Crying about how bad it would be if this bill expired.

9. They 'made the deal' but they haven't yet passed it...
U.S. Senate leaders reached a bipartisan agreement on Wednesday to extend for six months key provisions of the anti-terrorism USA Patriot Act set to expire in 10 days.

The accord, to be voted on later on Wednesday, would provide time for Congress to try to resolve differences over safeguards for civil liberties before making most of the provisions the Bush administration deems necessary for its war on terror permanent.

<snip>

Earlier on Wednesday, 52 of the 100 senators, including eight Republicans, signed a letter in support of a Democratic-led bid to extend expiring provisions for just three months to provide time to resolve differences.

Senate leaders, who had earlier opposed any such short-term deal, agreed to the six-month extension following talks during much of the day.

10. SIX months?
With majority support for a three-month extension, why are they getting this much?

Maybe they have to do the formalities in passing the 'temporary extension' of the Patriot Act:

"In the final clashes of a year of partisan conflict, the Senate dealt defeat Wednesday to legislation allowing oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge...

Legislation providing $29 billion in aid to the victims of Hurricane Katrina and other storms cleared with ease. And hours of back-room negotiations yielded a surprise agreement on a Democratic-initiated call for a temporary extension of the anti-terror Patriot Act without changes.

<snip>

The agreement on the Patriot Act signaled that the White House and congressional Republicans will have to accept changes in comprehensive legislation that had seemed on the verge of passage only a few days ago.

11. It's what they are paid ( very well, might I add) to do! What American
gets the time off with pay and medical benefits, that they do? With minimal results? They should stay and NOT screw the working class, not mention, the working poor and the least among us! Keep them there until they get it right!
