Mattel is caving to the right wing re: American Girl philanthropy
American Girl, makers of a very popular cute baby doll, contributes to numerous causes including some that the radical right wing do not approve. They have pressured Mattel, who is now severing their ties with American Girl when their contract ends. Sooooooooo, I wrote them a letter saying that I am a Grandma who loves to dote on my grandchildren, and will not be doing business with them. I told them that I have purchased so many Mattel items, but I cannot support a company that discriminates. Their address is

Mattel, Inc.
333 Continental Blvd.
El Segundo, CA 90245-5012

1-310-252-2000

And a note to the NSA & Bush who might have me on a "threat" list somewhere. You are the ones that are a threat to this great country of ours, and I pray that you repent and ask God's forgiveness.

I want to get the facts straight before I write or call.

Thanks AnotherMother.

4. I thought Mattel owes American Girl now
and it's American Girl who will not renew their deal with Girl's, Inc. (though Mattel still deserves to hear from us). On the other hand, the partnership AG had with Girl's Inc was a one year deal and due to expire soon. Whether or not they would have renewed if the wingnuts hadn't gotton to them is unknown.

When my nieces were younger, I spent a small fortune on AG stuff for them. They not only make baby dolls, they make dolls that come from various periods of American History and there a books for each doll that deal with the time they were living in. It was a good way for the kids to pick up some history.

6. I am somewhat getting wierded out about all these
controversies about dolls. First there was Barbie and now this. Possibly is there another distraction going on?

I feel like creating my Amazon warrior doll, complete with swords and things they can emasculate men with.

Ha, ha. Let's see how the media spin machine deals with that.
