Partisan Politics Aside: Progressive Springfield Group Focusing on the Family

The Christmas Season is traditionally the time for giving. This is the time of year when many let the philanthropist in us serve as a guide in reaching out and helping others who are less fortunate.

Members of Springfield Democracy for America group are sharing in this giving spirit but with a twist: they plan on identifying a family in need and supporting that family for the next twelve months.

According to group organizer Aundria Barnett, the day-to-day needs of many families don't end with the new year.

"We are looking for a family who not only needs help through the holidays but one we can continue to serve throughout the year," Barnett explained. "We want to apply more than a Band-Aid... we want to set up a lifeline that allows the family to succeed on a long term basis.http://www.firedupmissouri.com/node/3307
