Kerry is our best chance!
I think that John Kerry is our best chance at winning in 2004.

Dean & Clark can be a Vice Presidential candidate.

Please don't rip me apart for this but Kerry has been around a long time and all of his skeletons have been brought out of the closet.

What would Tweety and the other whores rip Kerry apart over that they haven't already ripped him apart in the past about.

Dean & Clark are fresh meat and they are going to try and destroy them because they want their "Boy Bush" back in the white house.

KERRY FOR PRESIDENT!

2. Do you think Kerry would be the frontrunner...
if he didn't vote for the Iraqui War Resolution?

If Kerry came out and explained his posistion a lot better, than I think he could gain more converts.

11. Are people trying to understand?
I'm not trying to sound rude, but have you gone to John Kerry's website or listened to him explain his position regarding the IWR? I understand that it might not be simple enough for people who ignore politics (although I think it is,) but I have a hard time believing that the people who post and read here can't follow his statements.

4. Your not alone on that
John Kerry

John Kerry remains the big dog in the race. A decorated Vietnam War hero, the four-term Massachusetts Senator is a member of both the CFR and the secret Skull and Bones fraternity at Yale that also claims Bush I and Bush II as members.

A Boston Globe article on February 2, 2003 revealed that John Kerry's Grandfather Fritz Kohn, who committed suicide, was Jewish. According to the story, it was the Globe itself that had made this fact known to the Senator by presenting him with a 1921 article disclosing the relationship to Kerry's father. Suddenly Kerry, a practicing Catholic, had the best of both worlds: Boston Irish-Catholic heritage and Jewish blood.

7. who cares who has the best chance?
Getting governor Schwartenager is a result of choosing candidates who can win, not those who have the best ideas. Support whose right not who has the best chance of not offending people.

I like all of the candidates and I especially like Sharpton but you need someone who can win big time.

9. why?
If you have someone who wins and only does slightly better it just leads society to dislike your party and move back to the republicans. Its a short term solution that is harmful in the long run. Not meaning anything bad towards Kerry, but from a stregical standpoint you shouldn't pick a candidate based upon who can win.

23. Please explain how the positions of a losing candidate
will benefit anybody. I prefer Dean over Kerry and
I think both can win but electablility matters - there
will never be a president Kucinich.

The muscle-bound oaf was elected in CA because the
two Dem alternatives (Davis and Bustamante) couldn't
get enough voter support.

I like the ideas of Arianna Huffington but she'll
never be in a position to implement them.

24. O'cmon that's comparing apples to oranges
This situation calls for the removal of Bush by having a Democratic canidate beat Bush- Kerry is a true Democrat whereas Ahhhnold is not even a solid Republican.
And Arnold didn't even win because he had the best "chance" at winning- the hard core Republicans dislike him because he is considered liberal on social issues. Arnold won because 1) the population is obsessed with movie stars 2)the media was lax on his sexual inncidents
This is an election where Bush must be tossed. This is no time for voting based purely on ideas. Those canidates cannot win. Kerry represents a liberal in social areas and pretty damn good with economics. Is he going to win Greens and far leftists? Of course not, but then again, those two groups are not going to be satisfied with the canidate that gets the eventual Dem nomination.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is...Kerry has the right ideas AND has a damn good shot at actually winning- which is a winning combo. The other canidates like Sharpton and Kuchinich (dammit I can't spell his name) have the right ideas, but no chance at winning. That's reality, and it sucks. Money is a huge issue in this race, and, again, sadly we need a canidate that can raise money to at least try to compete with Bush.
Kerry has the right ideas and can win this thing. That's why I support him. There may come a time to vote with the heart, but now is not the time. We have GOT to get rid of Bush in the white house for the sake of the entire world.

12. 99 Daily Distortions
Though I don't plan to vote for Kerry, I must applaud his most recent email campaign, called 99 Daily Distortions. In the 99 days before the NH primary, he promises to write one Bush Distortion a day, and asks folks to send it on to others. This is the kind of campaigning I like to see-not bashing Dems, but bashing BushCo.

Distortion of the Day for Monday, October 20

"My plan is good for the long-term health of our economy. It is good for the businesses that create jobs."

When: June 7, 2001

The Truth

Nearly 3.2 million jobs have been lost since Bush took office- and over 2.5 million of these are manufacturing jobs. http://www.bls.gov;http:www.jec.gov>.

and like Edwards, Kerry will get a passing boost from his "Hardball" appearance, but he is a crashing pompous bore who drones on and on. On another thread a poster speaks of a call from a nephew stationed in Iraq and how the troops are suffering and why don't the people at home help, and here is the idiot fool Kerry strutting his military credentials after protesting his own experience in an unjust war.

Kerry is all about Kerry and he not only doesn't get it, but his continual grandstanding about his military stint only serves to confuse priorities. But Kerry is all about Kerry and it's all he has.

18. No doubt
he has made few sacrifices in life-style and personal comfort.

Kerry has been a disappointment for months on issue after issue regardless of some of his past noble causes.
But that was then, now he is a strong proponent of free trade and condemns Dean's position that we should impose fairer labor standards in the slave countries because it would negatively impact on the US economy. Have to wonder about his priorities and his vows to improve the gross inequities of free trade. He scoffed at those who were not willing to "move on" from the national shame in Florida. He is a hawk on Israel, he flirted with vouchers and challenged the teachers unions after they supported him. After it was more than apparent that Bush wasn't handling the situation in Iraq the way Kerry claims he hoped, he had the chance to sign on with Kennedy and Byrd in a second resolution and he declined and yet he still claims that his actions were in response to the threat of Saddam's arsonel. His constant references to his Viet Nam experience seemingly a shameful moment in America's past, which he previously recognized, he now struts around like it is the only measure of presidential merit. His campaigning strategy often focuses on the low road and in addition he is boring and pompous with no broad appeal.

25. Would you prefer a Dumb Frat Boy over Kerry?
Because that's what we will get if they tear all of the others apart when one of them becomes the front runner.

They are waiting to tear them apart like they did Al Gore but Gore won the election.

14. I am coming back around to Kerry
started with Kerry then went to Dean, flirted with Clark, am enamoured with Edwards - now back to Kerry's long experience both domestic and foreign to dig us out of this mess. No candidate is "perfect", and Kerry disappointed me with his vote on IWR, but the Intel Committee was also fed the filtered info and I think they then truly believed the threat was serious - even going back to Clinton's impression that it was.

Whoever our candidate is, he will have to know the ins and outs of Congress intimately to thwart the Repugs who will probably still control both houses, I fear.

16. good point about Congress
Edited on Tue Oct-21-03 07:53 AM by eileen_d
Kerry was my first favorite, and since then I've looked at both Dean and Clark, who I would like to see run together. But Kerry really does have it all - foreign and domestic policy experience, plus years of struggle in a Republican-dominated Congress.

I really wonder how successfully Dean or Clark would work with Congress - Clark lacks political experience, and Dean compares them to cockroaches. You know, I think Kerry might be my favorite again. GO KERRY.

He was my choice for a long while until Clark got it.

However, I still believe Kerry is the most qualified and has the best liberal record.

20. If Kerry can't even stop Dean
Then how the hell is he ever going to beat Bush? Sorry, but Howard Dean is not only the only one I'm absolutely positive WILL beat Bush, but he's the only one with the executive experience and experience balancing a budget to dig us out of the fiscal hole Bush has put us in. Howard Dean has the strongest fund raising ability, is the one with the most fight and tenacity to go up against Bush, is the one bringing in the most new voters, will take some gun votes from Bush, makes the average American actually interested in politics, the list goes on and on. Kerry might have a chance of squeaking by Bush, but I don't want to take any chances. I also don't trust Kerry to be able to stand up to Congress and get things done. I KNOW Dean will be able to do this because that's how he's always been. I trust Dean and know he will get the job done. I also strongly dislike some of Kerry's proposals. I can't support him as a result.

I like Kerry and wish he wasn't from New England so that he could run WITH Dean. However, I AM still supporting Dean. I knew the war was a mistake and am no peacenik. If I can tell the war is wrong HE should be able to as well. I'll vote for him if he gets the nom.
