Exposing WMD lies, necon agenda, and calling for impeachment
I wrote this letter for people who still need to be convinced that chimpy lied to get us into war, so it's not really targeted for DUers (which is why it's not the juicy kind of rant that we enjoy reading). Nevertheless, there are some pretty good links in my web site that you may have missed, and you may want to forward it to some friend or relative who thinks dumbya is a straight-shooter. (sorry about the margins):

excerpts:
Nine weeks after president Bush made his victorious landing on the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and declared mission accomplished, no illegal weapons or related facilities have been found. Although the president expresses confidence that the weapons will yet be uncovered, it is becoming quite evident that his pre-war claims were false. Iraqi did not use WMD during 12 years of debilitating sanctions, or even to defend itself during the war. Now that U.S. forces control the country, it is obvious that Iraq was not reconstituting its nuclear weapons program. No connection between Iraq and 9/11 has ever been established, and it turns out that Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden were bitter enemies.

All of this raises some serious questions. Were U.S. intelligence agencies that badly mistaken, or was the available intelligence deliberately misrepresented to gain support for a policy advocated for years by neoconservatives in the Bush administration? Now that the brutal regime of Saddam Hussein has been deposed, does it matter if the American people were deceived about the stated reasons for the war?

The decision to go to war is perhaps the most consequential that a nation can make. Our democracy is founded upon the informed consent of the governed. If we were deliberately misinformed and we do nothing to discover the truth or expose those who would subvert our democratic process, we are failing ourselves and the troops who are being killed nearly every day in Iraq.

This war, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians and will cost hundreds of billions of dollars before our troops can come home, was the first implementation of the Bush Doctrine of “preemptive” war which postulates that the United States has the right to attack any nation that poses a potential threat. Before launching another war based on the president’s assertions regarding an enemy’s capabilities and intentions, it is vitally important for the American people to ascertain whether his assertions have been based on an honest assessment of the available intelligence. The following link chronicles some of the key intelligence issues involved in the Bush administration’s rationale for war:
