We are NOT at WAR
the Congress has declared no war.

The military actions in Afghanistan and Iraq have been decared ACCOMPLISHED.

Iraq has held it's free election prompting a number of RWingers to state WE WON! (what I'm not sure)

There is no identifiable Country which has declared war on us.

We have not been attacked in any form in the US since 9/11 according to Bush himself.

Consequently...calling Bush a Wartime President makes literally NO sense. Moreover, Bush investing himself with special powers based on his role as Commander during Wartime makes...you got it...literally NO sense.

Major Combat Operations are OVER. So speaketh the King.

therefore NO WAR.

Any questions?

2. None. None at all.
Now, shouldn't you be watching the gladiators, er, I mean "football," or something?

Nothing to see here, move along.

These are not the droids you're looking for.

5. "WAR" is only a word to stir the masses and justify neverending...
depletion of the Treasury, profiteering through no-bid "defense" contracts, and political advantage gained by fearmongering.

You are absolutely correct.

8. Yes and the economy is booming according to my local
news and seniors are getting more Medicare than they deserve. "Go die you old farts. You've been here too long," so saith our Congress.

9. It's a neo-war -
Just as a neo-conservative isn't really a conservative, so a neo-war isn't really a war.

12. I don't know that it's a matter of Belief
I think it's pretty obviously a matter of fact.

Both legally and by the spew that has come out of chimpy's own mouth.

As a consequence I'm struggling to figure out where his newfound warpowers originated from. I'm guessing that he's trying to use the "WAR ON TERROR" but in that case wouldn't the "WAR ON POVERTY" or the "WAR ON DRUGS" also grant special powers to spy on the population or imprison people without habeus corpus etc?

Let's see if that sells...due to the "WAR ON POVERYTY" I'm going to spy on Americans and keep them safe by imprisoning the poor so they can't fall victim to high rate credit cards!

13. that's true..........
.....we're still occupying the country but technically we are not at war. And the did the 'mission accomplished' thing a couple of yrs ago!!

Unless by calling himself a wartime president, he's alluding to the vague war on terrorism....which technically is not a war.

14. I think deep down many Americans like the notion of War.........
Edited on Sun Dec-18-05 07:20 PM by Raydawg1234
It apeals to some boyhood fantasy, note the video games, if you look at the video games out there, there are tons of war games, and war games sell. Americans like power, they respect it. Look at the popularity of such TV shows and movies such as The Sopranos, and The Godfather. We have come to respect might over right. Taking over giving. If you are not willing to use violence you are seen as weak.

After all we are the greatest country in the world. It is our manifest destiny. These Colors don't Run! Everyone should just respect that, especially the French. And fuck the Canadians too. If you are not with us you are against us. Long live the Glory of America! :sarcasm:

Edited on Sun Dec-18-05 07:20 PM by Bouncy Ball
attack on and occupation of Iraq, a fourth rate military power that never did anything to us.

It's a bit wordier than their little "war on terra" but at least mine is 100% accurate. Theirs is 0% accurate.

17. Bush just said it it is Shameful that the NYT revealed during WAR
his spying program...he even emphasized the word WAR. It was a betrayal of our security for the NYT to reveal his crimes DURING A TIME OF WAR.

So...WHEN WAS IT DECALRED? WHEN DID WE INVOKE THE WAR POWERS ACT?

This needs to be stuffed down his damn lying throat by EVERY dem (except Ben Campbell and Joe Lieberman who need to complete their conversion to the dark side).

And the pentagon gets to spy on us too (notice how that keeps getting less play...). Apparently that's also something they get to do DURING WAR.

I think it's simple now. IF they want to make these claims, then CONGRESS MUST VOTE FOR WAR. Not a police action...not an enforcement resolution. THEY MUST VOTE FOR WAR. Period. No discussion. He's claiming powers that he gets DURING WAR.

So Either we declare WAR or we need to Impeach his lying fascist criminal ass.

have used "War on Drugs" to perpetuate the rules of war.

20. Then we need to make it official
demand a congressional vote on WAR. Otherwise don't we just have a constitutional crisis on our hands? A declaration of dictatorship? Oh that's right...we do.
