Poll question: What is the best way to lose?
The DLC and others here who believe in Machiavellian machinations and other "strategery" seem to think there's something savvy about voting with the majority when we are going to lose anyway.

Obviously, you can't fillibuster and obstruct every single issue, but you can vote against things that harm the public interest to show voters where you stand for future reference.

If our side doesn't have a chance of winning a specific vote, how would you want your congressman and senators to vote?

1. How would I want them to vote?
Choice 2.

How do I think too many reps operate?

Choice 5.

I like to show my appreciation for reps that do the right thing, win or lose, by supporting them with words, cash, deeds, and votes.

2. yep--cash and carry congress: give cash, carry vote
Can you imagine what would happen if Dems or Republicans talked to big money donors the way they talk to us?

3. The current players would evaporate
and new puppets would be pushed to the fore.

I think we need a way to remove big money influence from the process to really make significant change in the system. Meanwhile, I still operate as if they are working for me. I'm a constituent. When I find the rare, refreshing congressperson who works for the people he or she represents, I'm going to let them know I appreciate it. When I don't think they're doing their job, I'm going to let them know that I don't.

5. And then you get a letter back

that never directly addresses your points, or that says you were wrong, or both. At least, that's what she used to send to me, while I was still in California. I won't be in CA when she comes up for reelection; do you think she's tarnished enough to successfully replace her? Or perhaps she'll have a last minute "change of heart?"

6. I just get the first letter you mention. She's been better on some
issues lately, but it could be an election year make over.

She is the liberal-skinned Chamber of Commerce candidate.
