David Sirota asks the important questions re: domestic spying
<snip>

"And that gets us right back to the most important question: why would the President deliberately circumvent a court that was already wholly inclined to grant him domestic surveillance warrants? The answer is obvious, though as yet largely unstated in the mainstream media: because the President was likely ordering surveillance operations that were so outrageous, so unrelated to the War on Terror, and, to put it in Constitutional terms, so "unreasonable" that even a FISA court would not have granted them."

<snip>

"These are exactly the kind of surveillance operations even a government-tilted FISA court would reject, and it raises yet more questions: Are these anti-war peace groups the targets of Bush's warrantless, illegal surveillance operations? Who else has the President been targeting? Has it been his partisan political enemies a la Richard Nixon? Or has he been invading the privacy of unsuspecting citizens in broad sweeps with no probable cause at all?"

This crystalized my thoughts on this subject. He just puts it so simply - I love D.S.

1. Yup
Oddly enough, all three panelists (including George Will) on Stephanopolous said much the same thing.

4. In my mind, I kept trying to make it complicated,
but the real core question is so dang simple. I missed the morning shows today, but I heard Rohrbacher yesterday say that * is a hero for taking care of us this way.

11. Rohrbacher is an idiotic Bushbot.
Bob Barr (our new hero) took him apart on Wolf Blitzer's show. Barr expressed amazement that a conservative Congressman was willing to defend the president for violating American laws and ignoring the Constitution. How "conservative" is that?

Rohrbacher came across as a misguided fool.

19. LOL
I'm mighty glad for Barr's input on this, but I'm not ready to call him a hero yet. I get your point, though. :)

The Bush administration needs to justify each person
under surveillance. NOW. And congress needs to put
these white house crooks on notice that we do NOT live
in a friggin' police state.

Impeachment proceedings would be a darn good way to start.

We will mostly be regarded as nuisances unless we pose a real threat to the Reich, like actually getting them indicted and changing election laws. Then you'd better stay in plain view. You won't disappear or get offed then or so goes the common wisdom.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. What we know is damning enough, why don't we just hammer it home, for once.
