1. It really is. What an amazing person she is. Nothing slick
about her, she's the real deal.

2. The citzens of New Orleans and the Gulf South should have been

The "person" of the year, collectively. Could have been a great write up, black, white, rural, urban, liberal, consertive, rich, poor, so on and so on.

3. They could have done better.

Compare what they wrote about Cindy

Who would have thought that this mother of a soldier killed in Iraq could spoil the President's vacation—and become spiritual leader of the antiwar camp? Keeping vigil outside Bush's Crawford, Texas, ranch for nearly a month, Sheehan became a folksy celebrity: a hero to some and a villain to others.

to what they wrote about Condoleeza Rice:

On trips abroad, she is greeted more like a movie star than a diplomat. At home, she has stepped out from the shadows of all the President's men and established herself as the driving force of U.S. foreign policy. Her tasks are huge—soothing allies in Europe, facing down nuclear wannabes, finding a way out of Iraq. And she must be doing something right: she's far more popular than her boss.

edited because it sounded like I was dissing the thread.
I should be glad that they mentioned her at all.

4. I don't think it's that bad

All truthful statements. She did want to "spoil" his vacation. And there are those who love and those who hate her.

And no matter what I or you think of Condi.

"On trips abroad, she is greeted more like a movie star than a diplomat."

often times true.

"At home, she has stepped out from the shadows of all the President's men and established herself as the driving force of U.S. foreign policy."

First part lie. Second part partialy true but not good.

"Her tasks are huge—soothing allies in Europe, facing down nuclear wannabes, finding a way out of Iraq."

first I'm sure she can be personaly charming outside of policy. Someone has to face down crazy people who want to make nukes just hate that we have who we have to do it :banghead:

finding a way out of Iraq

"she's far more popular than her boss."

Who isn't????

6. They claimed that Condi
is greeted like a "rock star" while calling Cindy "folksy".

When has she EVER been greeted like a rock star?

That was a myth started by the spin doctors.

I have a hard time finding photos of her arriving in foreign countries or even any references about her in their newspapers while she's there.

They noted that Cindy was hated by some while never mentioning Condi's questionable credibility or how she prostituted herself at the 911 hearings.

Condi is a bootlicker, Cindy is a rebel.

Three guesses who Time wants to see get the Republican nomination in '08, and the first two don't count.

But I suppose they could have done worse too.

9. Cindy should have had the cover spot.
She lost everything, including her son and went on to do the impossible.

What did Bill Gates sacrifice?

But it is Time magazine, after all.

11. He's been giving millions of dollars away every year.
It's not news.

I'm glad he does that, by the way, but I loathe Microsoft and can't wait to kick his greedy butt out of my pc once and for all.

It would be wonderful if the greed of Bill Gates was the low bar, wouldn't it?

And in the 80's we thought The Donald was a capitalist pig.:banghead:

5. I think WE
the American people representing the good and George Bush representing the bad should have been co winners of this award...Why, because we have had to endure a whole year of lies about the lead up to the Iraq war and still Bush deneying the obvious.....TRUTH.....
