but do you remember the parable of the temptation--when the devil tempted jesus in the desert and jesus said no.

i think that your post has illustrated a modern version of the same thing.

sad. isn't it?

16. I think it's also a bit like Abraham and Isaac
You remember, God told Abraham to sacrifice his only son, Isaac? But at the last minute, God stopped him? He'd just wanted to test Abraham's devotion?

In modern times, God (Bush) asks the same thing of Americans, but this time the joke's on them, devoted creatures that they are. This time, "God" doesn't stop them at the last minute.

This mal-administration is like a perversion of every bible story we've ever been told...

15. And God,
I like Christmas carols. I sing them and hear and feel the words.

But you know it's hard to hear about the joy and peace and good will, even that hope that sets the weary world to rejoicing.

Where is that new and glorious morn?

Jesus told his apostles he'd return in their lifetime. I think they are dead now God. Now I know he was both man and God and maybe the man part of him felt that spiritual truth of SOON and interpreted it as human soon.
Kairos and Chronos are not the same thing. Spiritual imperatives always bring that sense of immediacy.
I know that, but still...when is soon?
He's like one of those guys that leaves for a pack of cigarettes and forgets to come back.

God, I'm sure you've seen the suffering here, generations upon generations of it. There has been so much lately with the tsunami and Katrina and the earthquake, so many still suffering. They starve and get killed in Africa, and you must know about Iraq.

You know your reputation as Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent. So what's the deal?
OK so you are perfect and all. If there is error it is ours. But hello, you're God. Are our faults too big for you?

It's confusing here God. Did you hear about the elections?

I believe in miracles. I know you have a sense of humor. Why not send a big giant Godly looking hand to slap them and say a word or two sometime? The pharisees of today. Jesus really, really didn't like them. How should we feel?

So anything you could do to ease the suffering, let people know that you really do care and are there. Jesus felt abandoned on the cross...humanity understands.

Show us the way then. The message was perverted, it is used against people now, used to exclude, used to hurt and judge.

The promise of Christmas is immense. We are oh so ready
Kyrie Elison. Merry everything.

17. i think so many of us are having the same struggle with
pairing the joy, peace and goodwill of the christmas message/carols with today's bush's world.

i created a christmas card to send to my friends with the image of a father and his little girl hanging ornaments on a christmas tree. then I had the little girl ask the father, "Daddy how can there be Peace on Earth when so many are dying for Bush's greed for oil?" -- and then I had the father answer..."Because Peace means to be in the midst of those things and still have Peace in your heart..." and when I stopped and read what I had created and the struggle it portrayed between war and peace, dark and light, i thought it was horribly cruel and ended up discarding that particular card.

later on, thinking about that card, i thought, "the world is sort of the same as it was 2000 years ago when Jesus was born. Dark and Light and HE is still trying to give light to those in the dark. The difference between HE and Bush is that HE doesn't ramn his LIGHT nor HIS truth down people's throat. Bush does to spread his darkness. he ramns his darkness down people's throats so with deadly bullets.

18. Your first card
was accurate (I say grumpily).

Ultimately our part in peace is to be peace. That Peace is not reliant on outer circumstances...it is even Peace in the midst of chaos.

I use to spend a lot of time in that Peace and it could be funny to be irritated by that inner flow of Peace and a calm joy...when really things suck and you want to be upset. If that makes sense.

But you're right, that would be a sort of cruel card because...it sounds wrong, it is taken wrong. And people who are not peaceful certainly aren't doing something wrong. We can't make ourselves feel it and it can't be faked, it's not a cloak we put on. It flows up, more through us then from us.

We do have to release and allow it and that is very hard. When there is chaos our natural response is to tense, to go out to the surface and DO things, even if that thing is just worry.

bush calls his darkness light, funny thing.

Perhaps I put on Jesus what is ours to do. Not...in ourselves, but maybe the birth of the Christ is within each of us and that is what we need to recall, to allow. To let the energy through, whatever we call that energy.

Thanks, maybe, for the reminder...if I get all peaceful I am going to blame you.
