This AWOL bastard is running rough shod over everthing I ever felt this country is all about. 30 plus years later I still wake up in a cold sweat. I worry about our kids today, their future. Please someone tell me this is but a dream, on second thought maybe not. I need to sleep tonight.

I hope today's kids are watching -- and the college kids should be out in the streets.

THEY should be outraged. Parents should be outraged.

For me this is a repeat of what I've seen during the Vietnam era. I'm a military brat -- and my father was aboard an aircraft carrier and came back completely against the war -- knew that we were being lied to by the politicians and the military brass. I lived on base during a big chunk of that war. Now we are seeing the same thing happen again -- only it is much worse.

The bushie gang is screwing up the future of all children -- including their own. Money can't return what they are taking away.

And what about the 7th generation - the ones not yet born. Will they even have a chance -- decisions being made today will affect them and perhaps even their very survival.

Yes . . . I'm pissed and I don't even have children. I don't have children because I saw the Nixon era and knew that the next idiot would be worse, much worse and knew I didn't want the responsibility of bringing children into the next hell.

In fact, I'm more angry now because I have grown children!

It's activism.

Your mind is ringing a painful alarm, as it has been ringing for all of us. Only by taking action will you save your mind.

The bad news is that activism isn't a guaranteed cure for what ails the country.

The good news is that most of the population is already behind you.

I thank you for your service in the military all those years ago. Unfortunately, your service is still/again required -- as is service of all of us who care about America. If we fail to answer the call, the nightmares will soon happen while we're awake, and the cold sweat will be replaced by warm blood. But I have cause for hope.

You know the stakes, and the cost. Keep talking about it. I have no credibility, but you do. Our veterans are frequently called to be the voice of our conscience. Don't let the pampered bastards impugn your patriotism. Eighty thousand people here at DU have your back. We're proud to have you and the other veterans here to set the example, even as Team Bush and the neo-Cons tear it down with every hour they occupy the White House.

Their time will be up soon enough. So, tonight, get some rest, knowing that you're not going into this fight alone. Sleep well -- you earned it, you deserve it, and you'll need to be fresh for the days ahead.
