Yesterday they couldn't confirm story-Today Bush Admits He's a Criminal

Lying Criminals

Yesterday they said they couldn't confirm the story because it would compromise national security. Today they decided it was necessary to do the opposite and have Bush admit he was a criminal.

THINK PROGRESS

Yesterday, Bush Said Confirming NYT Story “Would Compromise Our Ability To Protect The People”
For 24 hours, Bush and other top administration officials refused to confirm the existence of their secret domestic spying program, arguing that doing so would endanger the American people:

President Bush, 12/16/05
I know that people are anxious to know the details of operations, they– people want me to comment about the veracity of the story. It’s the policy of this government, just not going do it, and the reason why is that because it would compromise our ability to protect the people.

This morning, President Bush not only confirmed the existence of the program but provided details about how it worked.

This demonstrates that the administration’s initial refusal to comment was not motivated by security concerns. If that was the case Bush still wouldn’t have been able to comment this morning. Rather, the refusal to comment was a public relations strategy. When they decided it wasn’t working, they scrapped it and tried something else.

1. Well, ya know how they hate to comment on an ongoing
investigation..... unless of course the comment is going to sway public opinion in favor of one of their own.

2. true, it's a personal choice and not some ethical dilemma
they don't comment, not because of security issues or an ongoing investigation but simply because they don't want to say anything that would be damaging to their side!

7. or can't be used as evidence against their personal interest
He can't comment on Rove because it will be on the public record like his "fire" anyone who is involved. He doesn't want another one of his little faux pas bombs going off in his face later. He commented on DeLay because he doesn't think he can be directly connected to Tommy's current indictment.

4. So Bush voted against confirming it before he voted for confirming it?

5. That's basically it:
"Today Bush Admits He's a Criminal," and he'll continue being one for the immediate future. His demeaner when he said this is enough to scare the shit out of me. Think we've got a Fuhrer on our hands. In the end he'll blame his failure on the American people.

Oh that's right. I forgot. When Bush does it the MSM lets him slide.
