Here Are The Main Reasons Stupid AmeriKans Think We Should Stay in Iraq...
Edited on Sat Dec-17-05 06:42 PM by leftchick

Chart shows main reasons Americans think U.S. troops should remain in Iraq. (AP Graphic)

And not ONE makes any fucking sense or has a basis in reality.

<snip>

Some 57 percent of those surveyed said the U.S. military should stay until Iraq is stabilized, while 36 percent favor an immediate troop withdrawal. A year ago, 71 percent of respondents favored keeping troops in Iraq until it was stabilized.

In an effort to build public support for his Iraq policy, President Bush planned an Oval Office address for Sunday night to discuss the U.S. mission and what lies ahead in 2006.

The speech will be his first from the Oval Office since March 2003 when he announced the invasion of Iraq. In the past two weeks, the president has given four speeches on Iraq.

In the poll, when people were asked in an open-ended question the main reason the U.S. should keep troops in Iraq, 32 percent said to stabilize the country and 26 percent said to finish the rebuilding job under way.

2. Guess we should be thankful . . .
. . . that somewhere down the road, we learned to think for ourselves. I've worked in engineering departments in Indianapolis, New Jersey, and Kansas City. In every case I encountered LOTS of guys who went to better colleges than I did, were sober, had nice families, and who simply drank the Kool-Aid . . . and were pleased with their sycophancy.

Swear to God, that Rush Limpballs guy has done more damage to this republic than any one man, ever. It just blows me away.

4. Bush's top reasons are low on the list
l. To fight Democracy 5%
2. To spread freedom 5%
3. To fight terrorism l0%

This is actually a good sign, IMO, in that people are not totally buying into the propoganda.

5. "To finish the job that was started" - and what would that be?
What a meaningless item for a poll question. It could mean whatever the responder wants it to mean.

7. This is classic propaganda technique
The "fixed" question contains the basic premise of Americans staying in Iraq and allows for only the self-limiting discussion as to potential justifications. In this way any honest discourse is made impossible, purposefully. The game is rigged. A very good example of why polls are not simply misleading and dangerous but are in fact a method of social engineering of opinion. The pollmakers know this, know precisely how to concoct these wicked little propagandistic human behavior models.

And of course the respondants were given ten choices, all of which were false choices.

To consider yourself a sentient being you must reject the basic precept of the question- which is that there are ANY reasons for Americans to stay in Iraq. To continue a war crime?

They may as well have asked, "What are the justifications for the criminal to remain at the scene of the crime?"
And then supplied the appropriate ten choices.

Great graphic :)

The real answers to the question should be....

To secure the oil for US/UK Oil companies aka:cheney's pockets

To secure US Imperial ambitions in the Mideast aka: PNAC fantasy

To secure HUGE defense contractor profits for favored MID companies aka: cheney and bush 41 favorites

etc. :puke:

11. "The beatings will continue until morale improves."
It's the very essence of insanity - doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a better result. Insane. Pathological.

14. I believe in a gradual withdrawal
taking place over the next year, with our remaining troops moved to the periphery so as to not continue to be targets, but to be there in case they are needed.

Whether or not Iraq can be stabilized is a question that I don't think anyone knows the answer.

To me, Iraq is really at least 3 distinct cultures, and will probably end up either being 3 separate nations (Kurdish, Sunni, and Shi'ite) It could turn out that Iran will gobble up the Shi'ite majority (or for all practical purposes there will be no distinction between Iran and Iraq) and the Kurds will be sandwiched between 2 different enemies (Turks and Shi'ites)

Truthfully it probably would make no difference whether we withdrew them now, or later. But on the chance that there could be a viable democracy established, I pick a gradual withdrawal over a years period of time.

The hardline Shiites have already won so that opportunity is long gone if it ever was.

22. Probably
but NONE of us knows

Sunnis voted in large numbers

Iranians smuggled marked ballots into Iraq, one truck was caught with thousands of ballots marked.

Shi'ites are the majority.

But all we can do is guess at this point in time!

23. that Iranian smuggled ballot story is bogus
and was debunked by reuters within hours of publication. Read a little of Juan Cole's Informed comment blog to see how IRAN is the winner in the US invasion.
