I heard this news earlier this morning on CNN or MSNBC. It's interesting timing that Cheney is suddenly taking off on a trip, right when everyone is turning on Bush. Anybody else feeling like Bush has been set up and is going to take the fall now. When was the last time Cheney went anywhere??

Sen. Clinton to Vice President Cheney: Go to Iraq

RAW STORY

Print This | Email This

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) offered Vice President Dick Cheney a little unsolicited advice yesterday: go take a firsthand look at what's going on in Iraq, the New York Post reported Saturday (registration-restricted).
#

Clinton's surprising suggestion came moments before a top-level war briefing at the White House, a source involved with the meeting told The Post.

Clinton, who has been to Iraq twice and has been sharply critical of the administration's handling of the war, told Cheney it would be a positive experience to see the troops and terrain for himself, the source added.

Cheney, who has not been there since before the war, looked at Clinton but didn't respond to her remark, the source said.

Her spokesman, Philippe Reines, later declined to comment on any "private conversation."

Hours later, Cheney announced a trip next week to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Oman, Egypt and Saudi Arabia — opening the door for a stealth visit to Iraq.

5. interesting!
I guess with Hillawary suggesting the trip, Cheney can avoid any appearance of "skipping town" to avoid heat. Now he can say, well..
the Dems suggested it!

I just don't get why Cheney would suddenly take off on a public trip. I just can't remember the last time he went anywhere. With Fitzgerald,
Conyers, and now this NSA crap all hitting the fan... is he hoping to avoid the spotlight? Or hoping to move the spotlight elsewhere. Or just
leaving George to dangle.

4. over at raw story
they have an article saying that H. clinton told him he should go to Iraq. supposedly the big Dick just stared at her and then about 5 minutes later announced this 5 nation trip next week. Raw Stroy suspects that The big Dick will be making a stealth visit to Iraq during this trip.
