To the Editor:
This letter is in response to the opinion article by Phillip Hamilton dated Nov. 27, 2005. He stated that Christians are offended by large retail corporations requesting that its employees offer more generic all-inclusive greetings at store locations. He claims the purpose is to get the “small percentage” of the population to buy more goods during holiday periods. What is wrong with not wanting to offend the percent of the population that aren’t Christian? When you travel outside the “Bible belt” as I have, you quickly recognize that our culture is very diverse and the population of non-Christians is actually quite large. By attacking corporations who promote cultural and religious tolerance, Mr. Hamilton is only reinforcing the fact the evangelicals are completely intolerant of other religious and cultures.

Killer Flu. That is what has been on the TV. A killer virus has been possible for decades now. The only reason Bush is trying to scare people is so he can make Congress give pharmaceutical companies billions of dollars to make a vaccine that will never be used and probably not even made to help them because with private insurance taking over Medicare, prescription prices have to go down and they stand to lose billions of dollars. Just like Bush getting Congress to give the oil companies billions in subsidies when they have record breaking profits and are screaming at the American people.
There is so much going wrong with our government right now, I hope and pray the American people will wake up and see what's happening. It should be against the law for anybody to knowingly lie to the people of the United States of America, or these government corporations scheming the American people, lying to our Congress and corrupting our Government officials.
There is no We the People in our government any more. Our president is making us pay for his election with our tax dollars and the lives of our sons and daughters for the oil companies and now pharmaceutical companies. Call our Senators and Congressmen, let them know we're no sheep being led by corrupt officials with agendas to hurt the American people.

Phillip Hamilton’s editorial on Sunday is a sad example of the misguided mentality that has led us to so many problems in Iraq. He claims that the Bush administration is “soaring with the eagles” and that the war in Iraq is going “better than advertised.” I would hardly call the over 2,000 American soldier deaths, no discovered WMDs, a poor Iraqi infrastructure, lack of any clear exit strategy, and a 400 percent — yes, 400 percent increase in terrorist attacks “going better then advertised,” Rep. John Murtha and other “clipped-wing Democrats” have been railed against as being unAmerican, unpatriotic, and sympathetic to terrorists as a result of their call for the removal of troops. Conservative Republicans say it’s wrong to pull our troops out of the quagmire we’ve created in Iraq. But what have the conservatives been right about in this war so far? The WMDs that Iraq was certainly holding? How about the ease with which we overtook the Iraqi military? Surely they were right about Saddam Hussein being tied to Al-Qaeda though, right? Sadly, no. This military disaster has only increased the animosity of other countries against the U.S. If we truly supported our troops and cared for their safety, we would realize that pulling them out of a useless war is the only correct course of action. The Democrats’ call for action is not showing cowardice, as many have alleged. They are simply asking for the accountability which has been frighteningly absent from this war.
