Poll question: Which AAR program would a RWer be most likely to be able to listen to?
Edited on Fri Dec-16-05 10:18 PM by Mayberry Machiavelli
Whether to amuse themselves, on a bet, or because they were curious...

If you were out to convert the interested, or doubting RWers...

Shows like Randi's are too loud and strident, it would turn off a RWer immediately, which is fine, it's not a "conversion" kind of show.

I personally think it would be great if there could be yet another station of "conversion" shows...

12. I think Ed is most likely ...

Ed is pretty moderate. You can periodically here him going through the process of taking a conservative stance and progressively getting knocked to the left by his callers. It's nice to hear the process live.

Just remember, Ed isn't owned by Air America. Ed is owned by the same guy who made Rush Limbaugh the personality he is.

The most moderate Air America host is probably Al Franken. Al does a good job to reach out to the other side and try to convince them that they are being deceived. Al only goes after the freeper leaders, he doesn't go after the after blue collar joe who has been snow-blowed by the likes of Faux News, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

Randi, Malloy, Janine & Sam are more likely to go after those folks and blame them for being "stupid" (misled). Springer is just to plain BORING!!!!! No wonder his TV producers bring uncivilized nut cases on his show. Without them he would put his studio audience to sleep.

Rachel Maddow is a good straight on news lady and I don't think she really makes a difference either way. The fact that she is a all out flaming lesbian will probably tune out a LOT of folks. I don't think there is anything wrong with it, but that gay barrier is often just too much to traverse.

3. Oh for gawd's sake they love Randi.
She's a mouthy woman who needs to be put in her place, according to their thought processes. Not a single one of the freeper clods have yet, since I've been listening, won an argument with her.

4. I would have to none of the above regarding AA.
They already have a pre-conceived prejudice with both Al Franken and Jerry Springer. I honestly think that they could tolerate and feel like discussion when listening to Ed Schultz. He is the best bet to gain a right-wing ear.

5. If they can't take Randi
If they can't take Randi Rhodes at her bitchiest, they're nothing but frightened little mewling babies! Lots of lefties can handle Rush :puke:, "Doctor" Laura :puke:, even Savage Weiner :puke:... I guess the wingnuts are just girlie men.

6. Ed Schultz likes to hunt and fish
That may win some of the country republicans over.

8. I'd have to say Springer
Because he's known for his show and he's nice to the wingers who call in. I like his show pretty well. My second person would be Ed Schultz. I'm not a big fan of his but he can apparently appeal to those who are moderate and not fundies or freepers so that's good. I love Stephanie Miller's show. Just hilarious.

9. Randi lets the wingers talk. She cuts off libs who try...
to make a point that she wants to take credit for. She tries her damdest to win over the wing-nuts, sometimes she succeeds, like that one nice Christian lady with an epiphany about 6 months ago (15 minute phone call, the whole segment IIRC), while others like "Those approval ratings are just a poll" guy from 3 weeks ago, to crazy Hezbollah lady from 2 summers ago, don't get it...but I think she tries harder than anybody else with the wingers.

10. Schultz isn't Air America
But he sounds enough like Limbaugh to suck the right wingers in. And unfortunately, recites enough right wing/DLC/ anti-progressive horseshit to keep them interested.

If that turns neocons into DLC'ers, is it really that much of a gain?

11. Springer fer sher.
I find him a bit tepid, but figure he's a good gateway drug for curious moderates.

I send all my freeper and neocon acquaintences to Mike Malloy's program.
As Truman said, "They say I give them Hell, but I only tell them the truth and they think it's Hell."

BTW, Malloy wasn't on the list. I voted for Randi, the second best fire breathing liberal on AAR.
