Okay, I know I'm a total Tolkien nerd and that actors don't like having parts follow them around forever, but I keep coming back to this. A better person (not actor, but person) could not have played the part of Aragorn.

I've been re-reading the series lately for about the 20th time since I was 14, and by coincidence I came across the following scene today at lunch. This quote reminds me so much of it, I must share the slightly modified version that ran through my head as I read it.

A friend of mine went to New York to buy one of his photographs at a show and he was there. They walked around together for a long time with him talking about his photos and she bought one. She said he's soft spoken, smart as hell, really nice to talk to and not a push over. he's just a secure man unto himself.

I didn't get into the Lord of the Rings, fell asleep during the first one (literally and at the Cinerama in Seattle) and decided it wasn't for me so I never watched any of the others (heck, I didn't watch the rest of the first one. I had a stellar nap). But finally two weeks ago my partner convinced me to give it another try, in small chunks. He said something about "the first one is free" or some such. Now, of course I'm on the last movie and about to start the books. He's my favorite character.
