Good article on the Dem's and Iraq
Edited on Wed Dec-14-05 11:28 AM by BL611
From American Prospect online, exhorts Dem's from the Lieberman to Dean to stop bitching at each other, BTW this article is a helpful strategy for issues besides Iraq also, especially when you look at some of the posts around DU (Caution: Article may be offensive to some DUers since while the DLC is not looked at particularly approvingly, it is also not looked at as the spawn of Satan)

On edit: Link is now working...

1. Dean never bitched at Lieberman over this issue. Lieberman chastised
Rep. Murtha and those who supported Murtha's policies, like Nancy Pelosi. Howard Dean also supported Murtha's position, but Dean was not singled out by Lieberman during his op ed and Dean did not openly criticize Lieberman. He left that to Harry Reid.

Lieberman has been seeing Dem support for the war, a war Lieberman had been championing for years, recede, and Lieberman was trying to "plug the hole." But Reality and history are turning against Lieberman and Bush. History will see Lieberman as a pathetic fool on this issue.

3. Seems to me that Lieberman and the DLC leadership are bitching at Dean
and other Democrats who want to find a way to leave Iraq a lot more than Dean is bitching openly at Lieberman.

But may be I missed something here.

5. The American Prospect is working overtime on this issue.
I have noticed that this week. Must keep Dean hushed. I have noticed a couple of other online magazines doing the same...and they are on our side.

I hope Howard Dean continues to speak out. I wish others would quit being so afraid.

6. It never said he shouldn't speak out
Edited on Wed Dec-14-05 11:42 AM by BL611
It said he shouldn't be at war with Lieberman,BTW Prospect had a editorial advocating drawing down troops LONG before Dean said a thing about it....

8. This CT Democrat is at war with Lieberman and won't be voting for that
war criminal in 2006.

But yes, I get the gist of the article. It was not the best writing I've read.

9. It is trying to make everyone speak nice.
I know that The New Republic had a conference in Aspen for The Third War/DLC...I heard Slate magazine was part of it. I think many are wondering who else is on board to try to keep our Democrats from speaking out.

11. I am fringe? Wow...on which side?
If you don't think that the new Democracy Alliance and NPI are working to get the message out, then think again. Read other blogs, follow up on the messages coming out each day.

Hey don't get me wrong, I am all for getting our message out...trouble is they would prefer it be one that talks very properly about the invasion and all the deaths.

7. Lieberman said we should not question Bush.
Edited on Wed Dec-14-05 12:01 PM by madfloridian
Dean never said that at all. Spin, spin.

Now it is our Democrats using the scream reference to marginalize him, while making Lieberman sound fine as wine for actually telling us we should not undermine the president's credibility.
