3. OK..this makes it clear. Bush has an "out"

He can say the SOTU was based on the British intel, which the British are standing by, apparently.

They used the Niger claim (which turned out to be bogus) as a way to hype the declassified intel in the British dossier...or that would be the story.

I took it into Photoshop and increased it to 190%. It seems obvious to me this was a discredited piece of information floating around, they needed it--felt it would help their case--and they used it. You can see that by the fact that it had been discredited but then they turned right around and used it.

That it's British intelligence gives bush no out. Repeating anything you know that is not the truth, no matter to whom you credit it, still makes you a liar. The test of lying is whether or not the person speaking knew it was a lie. The timeline clearly shows they had to have known that.
