First, let's jet off to Britain and see what the BBC has to say about the Golden Globe nominations:
Lee's Brokeback leads Globes pack
Ang Lee's cowboy romance Brokeback Mountain dominates the 63rd annual Golden Globe Awards shortlist with seven nominations including best drama.
Based on a 1997 novella by Annie Proulx, the film picked up nominations for director Lee and star Heath Ledger.
The film was also shortlisted for score, screenplay and best supporting actress for Michelle Williams.

'Brokeback Mountain' Leads Golden Globe Nominees
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — The cowboys-in-love drama "Brokeback Mountain" received a leading seven Golden Globes nominations, yet the critical favorite has an uphill trail for the Academy Awards, where a gay-themed film has never won top honors.
Along with best dramatic picture, Globe nominations Tuesday for "Brokeback Mountain" included lead actor Heath Ledger, supporting actress Michelle Williams and director Ang Lee.

But the BBC article does not find it necessary to mention the fact that it's a romance between two men, while the AP story mentions the homosexual factor in the first sentence, and then maintains focus on the gay aspect for the rest of the article.
Huh. BBC = romance, AP = gay, gay, gay.
