Song lyrics that resonate
War Pigs - Ozzy Osbourne

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of death’s construction
In the fields are bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds, oh lord yeah
Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight
They leave that all to the poor
Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait til the judgement day comes
Now in darkness world stops turning
As you hear the bodies burning
No more warpigs have the power
And as God has struck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees the warpigs crawling
Begging mercy for their sins
Satan laughing spreads his wings, oh lord yeah

I'm was not familiar with this song. I learned about it in Martha Stout's "The Sociopath Next Door".

She write of her concern after the catastrophe of September 11, which "propelled all people of conscience into anguish, and some into despair."

"From nowhere, a line from a thirty-year-old apocalyptic song invaded my thought whenever I tried to relax or sleep: 'Satan, laughing, spreads his wings.' The winged Satan in my mind's eye, roaring with cynical laughter and rising from the wreckage, was not a terrorist, but a demonic manipulator who used the terrorists' acts to ignite the kindling of hatred all over the globe."
