Does any other western, industrialized nation still have the death penalty
besides us?

Does any other western, industrialized nation have as high a crime and murder rate as us?

Have you ever seen any studies that show when the death penalty has been re-introduced in states the crime rate actually goes down?

3. No.
I don't know of any other nation similar to the US (which, of course, their are only a few in terms of geography and population) where the death penalty still exists. Nor do i know any state where the death penalty leads to a reduction in crime. Maybe a reduction certain TYPES of crime, but even that's highly doubtable.

I think gun laws change crime rates but not the death penalty. You should look into this.

6. I have actually seen studies that show the crime rate goes UP when
the detah penalty is re-introduced.

My point being--if you're for the death penalty, please don't try and spin it any other way than that you want revenge. At least be honest about that!

7. I'm not pro death penalty.
I think it's legally troublesome. I've never seen any studies showing that crime rates go up but that, obviously, doesn't mean they don't.

making a general point to those who might read this who are pro-death penalty.

10. Western, no
Capitalist, yes! Not that the two have anything to do with each other (IMHO), but maybe they do. The economy embraced by the citizenry says something about the thoughts/intentions/perceptions of the people, doesn't it?

Good article by the way, I had not seen this before and it's very interesting. Thanks! :hi:
