SSS radio ads - why the sudden flurry?

I listen to a local radio station which is affiliated with ESPN but also does local sports programming. Lately, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of ads exhorting 18 year old boys to register with the SSS. There are at least 8 different ads and they play all the time, sometimes one after another. A couple are kind of jocular, a couple are appealing to partiotism, one has a sultry young girl's voice (message: you won't get to first base with me if you haven't registered). A variety of voices - African-american, hispanic, etc. Are these ads getting a lot of play in your area. It might be that this station is simply short of cash and is overbilling the government (like Halliburton) to help their bottom line.

But then again, I don't listen to much radio other than my local AAR affiliate, so... yeah... I doubt that I'd hear these ads even if they were on a 24 hour loop on one of the more mainstream stations. :shrug:

2. Maybe the new Patriot Act forces them to run the SSS ads.
