LMAO !! Fundies screaming because public "holiday" celebration dumps them
I'm sorry - I should feel badly for the little girls who have been used as pawns in the faux "war on Christmas," the campaign of nouveau religious correctness that has every fundie's head spinning like the old Linda Blair scenes from "The Exorcist". . .but this press release just made me laugh...

"SAN DIEGO, Dec. 12 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Biblical Family Advocates is outraged that the City of Chula Vista Parks and Recreation Department would not allow children to participate in the public event, 'Holiday Festival' because they wore shirts that said "Jesus Christ Dancer" with a image of a cross below those words. And the Parks Department Supervisor adding to his bigotry against any form of authentic Christianity, decided that even if these 6 girls did not wear the T Shirts, the song of praise towards Christ and God would be too offensive. Besides he was heard to have said, this event is not a Christmas event, it is a Holiday event.

Biblical Family Advocates would like to remind the Taliban of the Political Correctness movement within the Government Agencies across America that if the U.S. Constitution guarantee's freedom of speech and religion and that the U.S. Congress cannot prohibit that free exercise, who are these Government entities which should include the Public Schools, to usurp the authority of the U.S. Constitution and to decide who is allowed to express their religious views? Are not these agencies taking the place of a religious body?

"For so many years, many Christians have been silent on the political correct movements biased religious views that are imposed on our children to our children's spiritual peril . So many years have gone by in which our children are being told to not utter the name of Christ in the Public schools because the misunderstood concept of separation of Church and State. Is it not time to pull the mask off of that movement that every year tries to eradicate Christ from Christmas, the schools and the our Government agencies?" so says Phil Magnan, Executive Director of Biblical Family Advocates."

Apparently, the fundies hate the word "holiday" so much that they still want to participate in public holiday celebrations...funny how they aren't screaming that it isn't a "christmas" celebration, because holiday is such a degrading word to them and doesn't recognize their terribly persecuted narrow religious beliefs. Now they are whining about being excluded - and the spokesman for the festival said "Sorry...this is a HOLIDAY celebration." ROTFLMAO ! ! !

They do assume that their constitutional rights demand that they be allowed to proselytize at any public event, no matter what the purpose. What an interesting concept. I say dump their tax exemptions, make their churches public buildings, and ask the gays to come put on a few plays there, claiming they are just expressing their religious liberty at public events.

2. Crazy and contradictory
Their criticism for the cultural "celebration" of Christmas is mixed with grim lunacy concerning its spiritual message. A long ago neighbor, one of those ned Flanders smileys, sent us a Happy Reminder of Judgment Day End Times card that had to be the strangest holiday card I have ever received.

It created the same kind of mood that the latest belligerent crusade threatens to revive, not in the name of the Infant Jesus, but of Savonarola or the Inquisition. "Peace on earth to men of good will" was not Christian specific enough for these rageaholics I suppose. But these people only favor angels with swords and whips.

3. Fundies don't realize
that, if they can profess their version of Christian religion, than so can any other religion / spiritual philosophy sect. Personally, I don't mind them, as long as they allow any other religious groups the same latitude and tolerance- like, maybe, pagans talking about their symbols of the winter Equinox / Saturnalia (?) ceremonies.

4. These people have a lot of nerve comparing ANYONE to the Taliban
After all, wasn't the Taliban a right wing, theocratic organization?

8. I have a suggestion for these folks
They need to organize, fund and hold their own CHRISTMAS holiday celebration. They just need to do it on private or church property. Nobody is making them attend this celebration.

However, I have to add that I think the organizers were out of line not letting the little girls participate. I think you ought to be able to wear whatever T-shirt you want, whether it says Christ, Gaea, Satan, or whatever. And it is just a bit in-your-face to say no religious songs. In this kind of event you get to display your little float, dance, whatever. I have to think that these organizers were playing the politically correct card a bit too enthusiastically, which just gives the right more ammunition for their stupid "war on Christmas."

10. I agree with T-Grannie based on what was said
but I can also imagine the reality of in-your-face red faced screaming evangelists force marching their kids through this thing and then complaining when the kids had to leave with the adults, who were the ones who actually got thrown out.

I just can't work up any sympathy for these guys. I am all for the complete "secularization" of America. Why should any religious organization have tax exempt status when is is so clearly and openly abused by so many?
