NBC Brian Williams-On Imus Last Week- On Katrina.
Brian Williams said last week on Imus that NBC was investigating what has become common knowledge in the N.O. area that explosions were heard immediately prior to the levees breaking. He said, they were sending divers down into that area.

Did anyone else hear this? Has anyone seen a story about it?

3. Hope you are right but

for Bush to grant him an interview, he must be pretty sure that he will be treated nicely.

5. Good point - I'll have to check it out just to see
Hopefully Williams will be polite and tough but it almost has to be softball for Bush to agree.

4. I agree
I thought he was the best of the news anchors for Katrina coverage. It may be that Bush gave him an interview because NBC has the highest-rated evening newscast and the other networks are struggling with new anchors.

6. Williams is good... he's the one who talked about "Bush stagecraft"...
.. just after Bush's speech in front of St. Louis Cathedral. You know, the big, prime-time speech after Katrina, where he promised New Orleans that we would not rest as Americans until she was rebuilt.

Haven't heard much about that speech since... and that was about two months ago.

Anyhow, Brian Williams wrote on the MSNBC blog that the Bush team brought in enormous, blue floodlights to bathe the cathedral in a calming glow; that military netting was placed over the set so that locals couldn't watch the production; that the White House generators lit up Bourbon Street for an hour, and pulled the plug the second the President left.

I thought Williams did Americans a real service by pointing out the Bush stagecraft.

I think I might actually watch the interview, for a change.
